HR-20

Call Sign: WCIU-DT
Location: Chicago, IL
Channel: 26-1, 26-2, 26-3, 26-4, 26-6
Issue: Channel 26-1 is not showing up after rescanning for OTA channels, but 48-1 appeared and is showing the programming for 26-1 and the program listing information for 26-3.

I may try to rescan again on June 12th in hopes the issue gets fixed.

I have had this same problem since June 13th rescan on my HR20-700. I have tried resetting and initializing my OTA about once a week with no change. I have sent notes to WCIU-DT with no substative results. Since the guide data is correct on my HR10-250, I'm thinking that this is a D* problem and not a Tribune Media data problem. One other point. Sometimes the programming on 48-1 is the same as 26 from the satellite. Sometimes, it's the same as channel 26-3, which is also know as Me-Too, but the guide data is always the same as 26.

This is important to me because 26 broadcasts Cubs and Sox games peroidically. Since 26 is a local channel not available in HD, I count on my HR20-700 to be able to watch games in HD. My HR10-250 does not have a HDTV attached to it. So, that's not a backup. 26-1 also appears correctly in the guide data on my Huges HTL-HD receiver.

Here's a couple of photos that help clarify the problem.

First shot shows 48-1 exactly where 26-1 should appear in the Edit Off-Air Channels function. Interesting...

Second shot shows missing 26-1 in the guide on HR20-700. It does appear as channel 48-1. I didn't take a shot of that.

Third shot shows 26-1 appearing correctly in the guide on my HR10-250.

Here is the fix I came up with. (no help from DirecTV Customer Service!)

Recently my kabc 7 los angeles channel stopped working at 7.1. Says "Searching for signal" 7.2,7.3,7.4 work, but not 7.1.

Directv 7 works fine in HD, but why am I not getting 7.1 OTA HD? The signal says 100 on both tuners. I have line of sight to the transmitters with a 10ft antenna on my roof. So I am receiving signal at 100% for all OTA, but no reception on 7.1 only.

I've reset, rebooted, reprogrammed, rebudweisered... nothing helps. Any suggestions?

DirecTV guide for locals (outside antenna) needs updating:

Local Outside Antenna (via LCD tuner & OUTSIDE ANTENNA)
KIEM-1 3.1
KEET-1 13.1
KEET-2 13.2
KVIQ-DT 17.1
KEMY-DT 17.2
KUVU-DT 17.3
KAEF 23.1
KBVU-DT 28.1
THISTV 28.2

The Locals as shown above by outside antenna and LCD tuner are correct for today.
Need to update the listings for DirecTV per Locals shown above so that the guide will reflect current locals (rescanned this date and no change).

For DirecTV unable to get KEMY 17.2 (DTV shows as 28.2), KUVU 17.3 (DTV does not have this one) and THISTV 28.2(DTV showns as KEMY), DTV has KBVUDT2 is shown as 29.2 and unknown local.

WOHL in Lima, Ohio began digital broadcasting this morning.

35-1 ABC programming
35-2 CBS programming

These channels are not listed in the program guide for the HR20-100.

I ran the "fix" and that didn't help.

I did get a response from DTV that it was being sent to Engineering.....ie circular file :(

I have also emailed zap2it.com about their listings for antenna(ota) and that they are incorrect.

I did try tzphoto "solution" but it did not work. One channel 17-1 was changed to 6-1 but others remained that same. And many got 771 searching results.

Keep pounding DTV to get it fixed!!!

its not dtv, its eurekatelevision
channel 6.1 used to be channel 17.1 which they decided to stay with
after the digital transition...now its 6.1,6.2,6.3- but no guide data for 6.2 or 6.3
my hr10-250 now has scanned channels and guide channels, so i have
two channel 28-2's, a listing for 29-1 which has no signal, guide data for
6.1, but the programming is on 17.1
and nobody at eurekatelevision (.com) answers their email

They own the Eureka stations.

I contacted them back in March and did get a response. I have also contacted them this time about this issue....so far their response is:

Hi All:

Following up on some related posts from last year, I was wondering what's the status in other U.S. cities about the ability to receive neighboring Canadian and Mexican channels through DirecTv, either via satellite or via antenna with the AM21. Here in metro Detroit, we have a few channels across the river in Windsor, Ontario, that are not part of DirecTv's satellite-delivered lineup, and also are not listed in my AM21's over-the-air lineup. A number of people I know would never consider getting DirecTv because they don't offer CBC channel 9 from Windsor, especially with their Hockey Night in Canada programming (even though not yet in HD). I brought this to DirecTv's attention some time ago, letting them know that all local cable operators here carry CBC-9, and if they at least made that channel (or better yet, all 3 or 4 of them) available via the AM21 with antenna, it would probably help gain customers in this area. Basically got the brush-off standard canned response saying they had no plans to add the channel(s).

Was just wondering whether the situation is the same in other U.S. cities that might have a few stations across the border (San Diego/Tijuana, upstate New York and Vermont/Montreal, northwest Washington state/Vancouver, etc.). I suppose I was generally thinking of channels like these:

Still nothing and Dish has added the WLIO 8-1 (NBC), 8-2 (FOX) and WOHL 35-1 (ABC), 35-2 (CBS) to their programming.

Did you try a rescan they may have changed freqency as well as power? I would try with the TV first. If they did change their freq then DirecTV may not have the change in their guide yet.

Same issue here even though the quoted post was two months ago.

Issue: Channel is missing from HR2x guide. Instead the guide wrongly lists this channel as 48-1 which is just a duplicate of 26-3.

FWIW, I opened a call with D* on 9/19 regarding this problem with WCIU 26.1 in the APG and now have my case escalated to the Customer Advocacy Team (Ellen's group) where I am working this issue with Steve. Steve has stated that he will pass the issue on to engineering and I am staying in contact with him until I get confirmation that this issue is acknowledged and will be addressed.

I had no luck using the procedure posted here by tzphotos, but I did find success in restoring 26.1 back in my guide by doing a "virtual move" to a new zip code - from 60641 to 60645 (did need to do a receiver reset from the menu after resetting the antenna setup but prior to initializing the new zip code for the APG to correct itself). No joy if I tried to redo the antenna setup using my true zip code. For now, I'm staying with the bogus 60645 to keep the APG correct.

As I was running a CE version of the HR software, I have posted this issue in the CE Issues thread and sent diagnostic reports to D* both when the guide is working and when it is hosed. My post can be found here (you might need to be a participant in the CE program to view it). I reverted back to the current NR version on my receiver and will do some further testing tonight and be providing Steve additional feedback for engineering tomorrow.

I have a HR21-200/AM21 but will pass along to Steve when I phone him the fact that this issue also impacts the other equipment I've seen mentioned in this thread (HR20-100, HR20-700, H20-100).

For archive purposes and to share a success story with others, the following process did work and now WLIO's 4 stations they broadcast on 8.1, 8.2, 35.1 and 35.2 in Lima OH now show up properly in the DirecTV OTA guide.

Keys to making it work seem to be:

1. send it to feedback@zap2it.com
2. Subject as Lineup Discrepancy
3. As much detail and contact at the station as you can give them

Start to finish was less than a week (I noticed them in the guide in 5 days and 2 of those were a weekend).

Your over the air grid (OTA) _AND_ the associated OTA guide feed to
DirecTV for their OTA tuners added to their set top boxes.

Zip code 45891 shows incorrect listings for converted WLIO and WOHL in
Lima Ohio.

You list 8.1,8.2 and 8.3, 18, 25 and 38.

After mergers, acquisitions and upgrades to DTV it is now:

8.1 WLIO-DT (NBC)
8.2 WLIO-DT2 (Fox) (formerly 25 analog WOHL)
35.1 WOHL-DT (ABC) (formerly 18 analog WLQP)
35.2 WOHL-DT2 (CBS) (formerly 38 analog WLMO)

Not sure if 8.3 is on air anymore. Check with station.

Can't tune these on their addon tuner because it depends on the guide
data, which I understand Tribune Media Services feeds to DirecTV and is
the source for Zap2It also. No guide data, no tuning even for OTA.

The D11 does not support OTA. The H20 and HR20 (as well as some older HD receivers) support it natively and the HR21/22/23 support it with the AM21 external tuner. There has been some talk about using it with the H21/23 but I don't know if that has happened yet.

So it appears others are having the same issue I've noticed when trying to watch anything in HD on WCIU - channel 26 in the guide from satellite. The sat transmission isn't HD, but the old OTA WCIU on 26-1 did. Now the mapping points to OTA 48-1, and the guide info lists the same content as 26 as well, but in reality 48-1 isn't showing the main channel 26 content, but rather subchannel 26-3. No WCIU HD for us!

Anything that can be done to rectify this? Does anyone who needs to know about this issue working on anything?
