The switch from MPEG2 to MPEG4 must be happening now. At 6:03 ET the screen went black and it is still out on ESPN.

Well none of the mirrored channels work but I did get 306 and 552 so after having seen HD off the new bird I'm off to the gym. I am sure you guys will let me know when everything else comes online. Good start

Changing channels is incredibly slow this morning. It is taking several seconds from button press to actual change.

it looks the same to me. I have a Bravia 1080p tv so maybe my tv has something to do with it. It also seems like the picture is running slightly behind the audio.

Look at text. And at crowd scenes. There is noise on the text and crowd scenes (like the Pocono commercial) on the MPEG2 version that is not there on MPEG4.

ESPN will never be perfect (as I see some of the same mess on cable as on DirecTV) but when it was messy, it was messier on DirecTV than comcast (things like crowd scenes, blimp shots, high action). This should clean it up. I can see a difference for sure. The clock in the lower right pops off the screen, for example.

i can spot a difference on my 21 in sony which is 4 years old. the pic is a tad clearer and sharper, probably because the signal isn't compressed!

I have both a HR20-100 and HR10-250. On my HR20 I can definitely tell a difference between UHD 74/259. However on my HR10-250, 206 and 209 are both still working. ??

I saw the change over happen. At first it wasn't in "hd" it looked sd to me. Soon about 5 minutes later the clarity kicked in. The picture was better then ESPN had ever been at that point.
Sometimes it just is what it is :nono2:
