I am getting Searching for signal in Houston on 206 and 209. I have an H20 and I have an HR21. Neither one can get theses channels. I also am not getting TNTHD or HD Theater.

Looks like I can't see the new satellite. 99c is absent on my H20 and my HR21 sees it but signal is only in the 40s'.

I am disappointed. The Scores as the bottom of the screen look that same as it did. It doesn't look any clearer to me at all on my H21 Receiver. I can flip over to channel 73 and it looks the same to me.

Low signal on 99c here, no ESPN or ESPN2 in the 200s, among other channels I'm not getting as well.

When I turn on Channel 206 and compare it to channel 73, ESPN Looks the same on both channels for me. I can tell no difference from watching the Cubs @ Brewers game from last night.

Since this thread was at the top of all of the other transition threads I'll post this here. May I suggest that all of the MPEG2 -> MPEG4 Transition Discussion threads be put into a subforum of their own.
DirecTV since '96, Waivers for ABC, CBS, NBC, & Fox, HR23-700 & HR24-500/AM21, using ethernet based MRV.

Ok so for the channels in the 70 range, are those still mpeg-2 and the ones with 3 digit assignments -4? Or do the older channels automatically map to -4 signal but keep the same channel number?

For example I was watching Sportscenter on 73 this morning. Was I watching the -2 or -4 feed?

73 is MPEG-2 and
206 is MPEG-4 from D11.

There's not a big difference, but it's there, especially in studio shots. Their studio cameras were always a bit noisy, and the MPEG4 minimizes it. IMO, ESPN2HD has a bigger improvement.

Drats! Too bad it wasn't available yesterday so we could have seen the Cubs game with new MPEG-4 feed.

I instantly saw a difference during the USA Basketball game even though it was not HD? The score looked very sharp. With ESPN while watching Sportcenter the scrool looked a bit better not by much but overall improvement from MPEG 2. Also I think for the HR series when you tune the channels in the 70's it automatically gives you the MPEG4 feed, since I did not notice any changes.

I think we should hopefully see the biggest difference when they are broadcasting games, whether it is the X Games, Baseball, Football, but that may give us the best case of seeing a difference!

Well i can tune to 206 with no problem, but when i go to check the signal strength 99© is not on option, only has a and b. Is anyone else seeing this? I have an H23.

Same here. Still seeing sparklies on fast motion. Nowhere near as bad as a year ago, before D10, but definitely no better in MPEG4 than MPEG2.

I'm getting 771 for some reason on 206. 73 works fine though.
