I was watching NHL Live this afternoon, and it said on the bottom line scoreboard that Hockey Night in Canada will be on the NHL Network this saturday. Including the Pregame, both games, and HNIC After hours. Just thought I'd pass this along to anybody who might have not known. Thanks for reading and have a great night, bye.:)

Sweet. Wonder what Don Cherry's suit is going to look like on the first HNIC of the season. He is a character.

I love HNIC, I am from Montreal and grew up watching HNIC....I do pick up some games from HNIC on NHLCI but I never had NHL Network in HD before(had cable), so this year will be fun to watch in HD...

The one thing I'll really miss is the commercials from Prince Edward Island. Will the SD broadcasts still be available in the 700s?

(PS - I LOVE Atlantic Canada!)

Ya, that was pretty funky, getting those commericals, especially after I have grown up watching HNIC out of toronto on cbc for my whole life.
Just give me the Sabres and Yankees in HD.

That is the one thing I will miss, the Canadian commercials. It's strange but those commercials gave you a sense of what it was like to live in Canada!! That said, I would imagine that they might still show it on NHLCI. The other thing that i don't like is that NHL Network repeats the SAME 2 or 3 commercials over and over again, plus the little NHL history clips. I think I can recite the Eddie Shore story by heart at this point.

I wonder if NHL Network will show the full Hockey Day in Canada when that is aired this winter?

Maybe on the NHL Center Ice dual feeds they will show RDS games, but very unlikely they will put a RDS game on NHL Network

This seems like a perfect use of a league owned and operated network, especially when the major US sports networks are disinterested in allocating time to the NHL.

Hockey Day in Canada is Feb 21, BTW: http://www.cbc.ca/sp...y-day-2009.html

The city of Campbellton, N.B., has been selected as the host community for the 2009 edition of CBC's Hockey Day in Canada, it was announced on Thursday at the NHL Awards ceremony.

The ninth annual celebration of the game will take place in Campbellton on Feb. 21, 2009. The Memorial Regional Civic Centre in Campbellton will serve as the epicentre for nearly 14 hours of coverage on CBC, hosted by Ron MacLean. Don Cherry and other hockey personalities will also be on hand.

No, I also wouldn't foresee RDS games on NHL Network.

A few en Francais RDS games have appeared on Center Ice, when the Habs were the only team broadcasting the game.

It gets even better......

Highlighting the schedule is the inclusion of CBC's award-winning Hockey Night In Canada, now available to U.S. fans through NHL Network for the first time. Every Saturday night, NHL Network will not only broadcast the live Hockey Night In Canada double-header, but also the CBC pre-game show Scotiabank Hockey Tonight and post-game show After Hours.

I think he's looking for the full CBC broadcast w/ Canadian commercials -- and he won't get that for those games shown on the NHL network (though we can probably expect to see the secondary HNIC early game in SD via Center Ice).

Well, all three games that day are on the NHL Network schedule, so perhaps they will be showing the entire day of events. Very cool.
