This is my first year with the Center Ice package. I subscribed for two reasons.
  • Coyotes games not broadcast locally will not be blacked out.
  • With the HD expansion DirecTV has done there should be ALOT of games showin in HD this year.
This thread is really all about point #2 above. So far DirecTV has done a superior job of dropping the ball in regards to publishing an accurate schedule.

So what I've decided to do is cross reference the HD channels DirecTV claims they carry along with the published schedules found on NHL.com to determine what games should be available to us.

PLEASE - If you want to discuss anything other than the NHL:CI HD schedule take it somewhere else.

Lets start with the channels DirecTV carries in HD (taken from their web site on 10/8/09)

Next is part of a press release from the NHL network where they tell us they will carry the CBC Saturday games as well as some Wednesday TSN games.

Finally there is Versus which states all their games are produced in HD. (I'm confused as to why since they apparently don't broadcast all of them in HD - channel is shared with golf)

Now on to the games:
I've highlighted the HD games on channels we get (green indicates HD games that we should get but may not).

So far it's looking like we really need to get CSN-PH up in HD.

Usually HNIC is contested fairly well, I only recall like one or two blow outs last year. Hopefully the same this year, looking forward to Calgary and Edmonton on Oct. 18th, that should be a good game, as should the last game this week
