I did a little search, not overly thorough, seeing if this had been posted, but didn't find anything. However it would be nice for people to be able to edit the title of their post or have a flag that says it's resolved.

Not the solution you're looking for, but you can always send a PM to a forum moderator to ask for a thread title to be updated or even to close the thread. I've seen many requests even with the thread from the OP to change the title or close the thread, and the mods happily comply. (The moderators for each forum are listed at the bottom of the page listing the threads in each forum.)

Yes, we would be happy to do so.
Opinions expressed by me are my own and do not necessarily reflect
those of DBSTalk.com, DIRECTV, DISH, The Signal Group, or any other company.

Another option is that if you make a mistake in the thread title, you can delete the thread and start over (as long as there are no replies).

Also, you can still edit the title of a posted thread yourself, if you do so within the first five minutes of posting.

I was thinking more of some of the threads where it starts out as an issue and gets resolved then 4 pages later we're talking about why green cabbage is better then lettuce.

If the OP could mark the thread as resolved, which would lock the thread, it might make for cleaner search's and less duplicate posting.

This of course is assuming that phpbb, or whichever version this site runs, supports this but I thought it did at some point.

Was just a thought. I will PM moderators on my threads but I wouldn't want to request that on someone else's.
