I have Total Choice Plus, HD Access, HD Extra, HBO, Showtime, Hotpass.

These are PPV that show up in "channels I get". I end up removing them from my custom list. When I want to see them I toggle the guide to "All Channels".

These channels were ones that are used to purchase items from DirecTV. Message of "This purchase exceeds the spending limit ($0.00) you set." was displayed. (I have it set to zero on purpose.)

These give me a black screen: (most said "upcoming" or "to be announced" but since I don't have the Sports package I would expect the ones I am not subscribed to, to be omitted.)

I do not subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket. I have a Wishlist set up for the Green Bay Packers. Whenever there is a game to record, it's always listed on the NFL Sunday Ticket channels, even though I don't subscribe to them.

I subscribe to the Premier package, HD access package, and the HD everything package, so there's not too many channels I do not get. I would first of all love to see an option to be able to hide all the PPV channels, the paid sports subscription channels I don't get, the porn channels, and the duplicate mpeg2 HD channels in the 70s. With that here's the list of channels I don't get that are showing up in my guide.

443 - HISE
573 - PTNW
574 - PTNW
578 - PTNW
870 - SONC Fiesta Tropical
873 - SONC Regional Mexican
876 - SONC Mariachi
877 - SONC Carnaval Brasilero
9561 - XM for Business Pop2K
9562 - XM for Business Lithium
9563 - XM for Business The Blend
9564 - XM for Business Top 20 on 20
9566 - XM for Business The 70s
9567 - XM for Business The Loft
9568 - XM for Business Roadhouse
9569 - XM for Business A Taste of Italy
9570 - XM for Business The Pulse
9571 - XM for Business Sirius XM Love
9572 - XM for Business Prime Country
9573 - XM for Business The Spectrum
9574 - XM for Business Watercolors
9901- 9926 Game Channels

I also have showing in my guide channels for NFL Sunday Ticket as well as MLS, none of which I subscribe to.

(1) TiVo Premiere XL & (1) TiVo Premiere; FIOS TV subscriber; Mitsubishi WD-73927; Pioneer Elite Receiver SC-25

Silence, it's wierd.....like a first date. A tribute to HDTVsportsfan :)

The HD channels in the 70s will likely disappear before there will be an option to hide the 70s

OK, I was bored with a football game so I surveyed my CIG. I have the old Total Choice package grandfathered, HBO and Showtime, plus HD access.

Here are the channels listed in CIG that I don’t get:

74 UHD
78 HDNM
92-96
103
203 Ohio
285 ID
286 PLGNHD
310 Ohio
332 PLDA HD
349 Ohio
443 HISE
478 DTV
552 HDNM
573

A bunch of RSNs:

In the 700s, CIG lists all of the subscription sports, although I subscribe to none of them.

XM:

It's been a long time since I've even looked at CIG - I don't want the XM or PPV to clutter up the guide, so between that and the fact that it's never been close to correct, I've never bothered with it.

Folks,

Our friends at DIRECTV are going to be putting even more effort into improving "Channels I Get" and so, I'd like to ask you to list any problems you have with channels you don't get listing as channels you do get.

Now that they have had another 3 months plus of "more effort" why is this still not resolved? How many years does it take to get the receiver to know the channels it can and can not get?

It depends on how long it takes to get the marketing arm of D* to stop dictating their "dogma" to the developers.

It would be a great feature for D* to put on there website or for networked boxes to have a setting that would change all the customized channels in the guide all at the same time. With the starz preview coming up and having turned off my premiums, I would like to take advantage of it and setting up each box individually can become tedious. Because I just got finished setting up each box to have the same channels in the guide, I don't really want to change each one by itself again until I change my package.

Imagine living in a household where each receiver is set differently and how that might be maintained.

To date, DIRECTV has taken a decidedly unidirectional approach to remote programming so I'm not sure that it makes sense that they would make content and/or preference information available through the Internet.

It has been previously suggested that USB flash drives might be used to accomplish this goal, but to date, the USB port's use seems to be limited to serial control and I don't recall that there is a menu command in the serial control command set. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt a macro to add and delete channels from a favorites list.

DISH's bi-directional programming system (SlingGuide) doesn't currently support modifying receiver preferences remotely, but DISH uses the IR blaster feature (not available in current DIRECTV boxes) with a special learning remote to accomplish this kind of task.

USB seems it would be easiest to impliment. Since moving from a sort of frat style house with 14 boxes and a sportsbar addon ( Which was cool and wish I still had ) It is actually much easier now than it was because I left only my 4 hr20's on my account. But since i now commute and gone from the house most of the day for 6 days a week I have no time to do anything

I would think so too, Being able to see the correct channels in CIG List would be a Basic functionality of the reciever.
