Wonder how much longer on KLRU-DT in Austin. D*'s taking the ATSC feed for their SD LIL so at least the local side has been taken care of.

See post My Setup for configuration info.

Well, even though the agreement was signed last year between DirecTV, PBS and the APTS, each member station had to ratify it. Perhaps Channel 8 didn't see fit to ratify it, instead trying to hold out for more compensation? If you're the only station in town, there's not much DirecTv can do, but if there's another PBS station, tehn DirecTV might just have moved on and made an agreement with them. Of course, this is only speculation on my part.

Also, apparently WGTV hadn't been broadcasting in HD recently, I don't have an antenna so I didn't really notice. They just got it fixed, but maybe D* just picked the one that actually had HD working when they were making decisions :)

Anybody have any guess on PBS launch in Las Vegas based on our market size, etc?

It would be a pure guess as the rollout to date doesn't seem to have anything to do with market size or any other pattern I can see.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order the PBS hd stations are being turned on. Anyone notice a pattern or order to it?

The pattern is there is no pattern. :eek2:

Very nice surprise yesterday when I turned it to 26 and Sesame Street was on in digital.

It's been in the works for a long time, but customer interactions are always good. Helps to let decision makers know.

What is the most constructive -- and effective -- way to "let [DirecTV] decision makers know" about customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction with their product?

Does anyone know if WGTV (Georgia Public Broadcasting) will be carried in HD for the Atlanta market? We have 2 PBS stations here (the other being WPBA, run by the Atlanta Public schools), but WGTV is the flagship of the statewide GPB network and is the "heavyweight" of the two stations, but is the one not being carried by DirecTV in HD at this time. If they are only going to carry one of them, I'd rather it be WGTV.

The Portland rollout coincided with their winter pledge drive. I was thinking maybe that was part of the timing, or maybe they got lucky and it was a coincidence. I’m sure it didn’t hurt. Do all the PBS’s ask for money during the same week or at different times?

My local PBS (KCPT) never stops asking for money.

I can only hope that DirecTV picks up KTWU from Topeka in HD instead of KCPT in Kansas City. (KTWU is available on cable in Kansas City)

KCPT is only in HD from 6-PM to 6-AM, and when they are having a pledge they will go 480i on 19.1 and 19.2 and simulcast.

KTWU is in HD 24/7. They have 2 other sub channels but the HD is always there in 1080i.

Yes, it would be nice to have 8 in HD rather than 30.

Perhaps this is in the wrong thread, but I will go ahead and ask anyway. Does anyone happen to have any information when PBS in HD will come online for Birmingham, AL (DMA #40). I know that many smaller markets have already launched, as well as CW and My Network.

All information will be apprecaited.

Thanks

Oh there's a pattern, they just don't want us to know what it is.

As I noted a while ago, there is no discernible pattern to how the PBS hd stations are being turned on. Hartford is #30 and not on yet.

I read a report that said the typical symptoms of stress were eating too much, drinking too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Who are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day.

now with Verizon FIOS and loving the faster DVR and being able to use both the external & internal drives at the same time
