I get no signal from 99 on any transponder. I have fine tuned the dish for all the others and get 80's and 90's.

Slimline with 5 lnb, 2 hdr's H20's both with same problem.

Is 99 hard to get? Is it typical to get the others and 0's on it.

Thanks for the info!

Are you getting 103 properly?

99 and 103 are the Ka satellites which require more fine tuning and are much pickier than the Ku sats (101/110/119). But usually if you get one of the Ka sats the other will come in fine as well.

1-8 86, 0, 68, 0, 74, 0
9-16 0, 0
17-24 0, 0, 0, 0,0,0,0,0

and all zero's on 103b.

If I am getting near 100's on 101, 110, and 119, what direction should the dish move to pick up 99 and 103?

Confused,
Thanks!

You might have a bad LNB considering you have a few decent numbers on 103 but the rest are zeros.

If you are getting near 100s on 101/110/119 you should be getting good signal on 99/103 too.

It appears as though you are far from dialed in. I'm guessing that your azimuth is off and needs to be teased.

What do you really have? Do you have 2 HR2x (the DVRs) or 2 H20s (not DVRs). I'm not sure what a hdr is.

Anyway, for the first round of questions.

How many lines from the dish?
Any splitters, diplexers or odd splices in those lines.
And for the biggie, you do have working BBCs on the receivers right? (assuming non-swm setup).

Unlikely if 101/110/119 are in.

Ok - forgive the ignorance - I have no BBCs - what is "non swm setup"?

Correction on the recievers one H20 and a H21

With out a BBC connected would I get a signal on 103a, because I do ?
1-8 is 87 0 71 0 75 0

Thanks again!

There's your problem. You need BBC's.

A swm setup will have a single line from the dish to a ground block, then to a splitter. Somewhere on one of the lines there would be a black or gray box (power inserter).

Odds are, you have a non-swm setup. 2 or more lines from the dish, then to the receivers, no power inserter.

Give DirecTv a call and have them send you some BBCs. Also, when was your dish installed?

Since this hasn't already been answered... You will see signal on 1-6 of 99(B) and 103(a) without a BBC, as they show signal from the original Spaceway satellites which are a different frequency than the newer Directv 10 and Directv 11 satellites. The signal from the Spaceway satellites is sent to the receiver using a 1650-2150MHz block, which the tuner on all HD receivers can directly receive. The signal from the Directv 10 and Directv 11 satellites is sent to the receiver using a 250-750MHz band which most HD receivers (with the exception of the H23 and HR23) cannot directly receive. What a BBC does is shift the 250-750MHz frequency to the 1650-2150MHz block used by the Spaceway satellites. Of course, all of this changes with a SWM setup, which I won't go into here.

Thanks guys!

I have now ordered the BBCs. I changed from dishnet SD to direct HD about 9 months ago. I was getting some HD channels and understood more were to come so I didn't check to see what I should be getting.
I work, travel alot and and also own a computer business. This Christmas was my first real time to dive into HD only to find out what I didn't have. I am about to upgrade to a larger LCD in the DEN so - well you guys helped !!!!!!!!!
Thanks again,
God Bless and the gift of Christmas is not just one day a year!
