According to press reports DirecTV's current deal for Hallmark Channel gives them the rights to the Hallmark Channel and the HD counterpart.

Why haven't they added Hallmark HD?

Much of their new holiday movies were probably produced in HD and it would have been nice to watch them in HD.

If this is true, why didn't DIRECTV drop one of their redundant HD-PPV "placeholder" (cough, cough) channels? I hope the press release is wrong. If the press release if correct, what a joke.

Maybe we'll get this channel next week.

Travel channel HD too

Exactly.

New National HD appears to be at the very bottom of DirecTV's priority listing. Ahead of National HD roll-outs in terms of priority are:

Locals
RSN's
MPEG2-MPEG4 conversions
Recarpeting the corportate offices
Figuring new bogus ways to count national hd numbers
Getting Christmas cards in the mail to CSR's
Re-ordering more office stationary
Issuing new pens and pencils w/DirecTV logo to all staff
Rolling-out new National HD
