Why should I network my HD-DVR?

1. Media Share:

By networking your HD-DVR, you can play music, photos, & videos from your PC:
-Media Share

Note: Your PC does not have to be a Viiv PC

2. DIRECTV On Demand:

You can then use DIRECTV on Demand to download movies and programs to your HD DVR:
-DoD Overview
-DoD FAQ

Note: DVR service must be enabled to have DIRECTV on Demand (VOD).

3. DIRECTV2PC:

And finally, you can stream content from your HD-DVR to your PC using the DIRECTV2PC software:
-DIRECTV2PC

Note: This software is still in Beta testing.

There are three ways to network your HD-DVR.

1. Hardwire

Simply run a Cat-5 (Ethernet) cable directly from your HR2x to your router or modem.

2. Powerline Adapter

DIRECTV offers an "Ethernet-Over-Powerline" Networking kit.

To order the Internet Connection Kit:

1. Log on to “My Account”.
2. Click “My Setup” at the top of the page.
3. Click “Add Kits & Equipment”.
4. Select “Internet Connection Kit”.

3. Wireless adapter

There are many wireless solutions available to network your HR2x. DIRECTV and the HR2x series officially support the Linksys Wireless-N Game Adapters: WGA600N and WET610N.
