I recently switched from HBO to Starz and just tried to watch a movie I had recorded from HBO. All I get is a black screen and the message "Searching for authorized content". Does DirecTV prevent you from watching programs you legally recorded while a subscriber to a channel after you end your subscription?

If so...

I recorded a movie during the recent free Starz preview and watched it a week after the preview ended. Was I only able to do that because it was recorded during a freeview?
