According to Monday's Sky Report DirecTV announced Friday that they had renewed their agreement with the NBA. Part of that multi-year agreement is moving NBA TV from its present location in the Sports Pack to Choice Xtra and from 601 to 216. More info here: http://dtv.client.sh...eleaseID=377977

It's about time they moved the channel to where all the other sports channels are. :hurah:

When do they expect to do this?

Try this.

Makes sense to move it off the Sports pack. I never felt like subbing to it for that.

Ceton 6 tuner eth, Cisco Tuning Adapter 1520, TWC Digital Explorer Pak and Standard Internet, TiVo HD (upgraded to 500 GB) for OTA,TC-P50U50, SONY NSZ-GT1 BD player and Google TV box, Yamaha RX-V373 A/V receiver, Squeezebox Duet music streaming device, Xbox 360

This fits exactly with what the NBA (Turner Sports) had in mind when they signed the contract last year for Turner to manage all their media. The NBA started negoiting with both D* and Comcast earlier this year with one goal, to get the NBA channel moved to a much higher audience. From what I read the feeling was once both D* and Comcast would agree and sign the new contract all the other cable/sat companies would fall in line.

This is great news!!! Too bad the channel doesn't move until the beginning of next season (2009-2010).

Does this mean no NBA TV tonight for playoff basketball, unless we subscribe to sports package?

Correct, need Sports Package, sub to the NBALP or have Premier Package. If you don't have any of the above you will not get the game tonight. Next season this of course won't be an issue.

D* Setup:

Slimline (AU9-S) w/no multiswitch
(1) HR21-100 0x87F (7/8/08 Made in Mexico) via HDMI to Pioneer PDP-6020FD
(1) HR24-100 0x87F (11/9/10 Made in Thailand) via HDMI to Panasonic TC-P58S2

FIOS 150/150

I would be nice if DirecTV would make up their mind where the sports channels are going to be, and put them all together. It is a pain with some of them in the 200's and others in the 600's. It would make channel surfing a lot easier if they put them all together in one area.

H44-200 - Samsung 1080p 46" LED - HDMI
C41-100 - Samsunbg 32" LED - HDMI
C41-100 - Mitsubishi 1080p 57" DLP - HDMI - Pioneer Home Theater Sound

LG 20 LCD" & Viewsonic 17" HDTV LCD - Component via Cat 6 baluns from HR44-200
Slimline w/ SWM3 LNB. OTA master antenna system to all sets.

I totally agree. I'm surprised they didn't move Vs. to 219 yet.
