Just wanted to post that I tried it today via chat as well.

They gave me the Free HBO and Starz for 3 month and also offered me Cinemax for a penny for a year!

I confirmed that as long as I canceled each before they expired I would not be charged.

We were hoping to catch Season 2 of Tru Blood for free:)

Dish appears to be really trying to be fair with this offer also. When I checked "offers" this month from my account page the following message was at the top:

I signed up for the HBO/Starz free preview today. All I did was go to the online chat with CSR and tell them I would like to receive it. It took about two minutes. She didn't ask me any questions. She just reminded me that I would have to cancel after three months to avoid being charged.

A CSR called me Saturday and asked if I wanted HBO free for 3 months so I took it. No STARZ though.

Enjoying AT 250 HBO,

Equipment: VIP 722 reciever

Verizon FiOS only unlocked HBO West and East. There was NO free Cinemax or free HBO-2, Zone, Comedy, etc. FiOS On Demand was also blocked for HBO.

What a joke.

Thanks for the info on the premium channel promotions. I just signed up for the free 3 months of HBO & Stars and the one cent Cinemax for a year promotions.
They even set up an automatic downgrade for HBO & Stars so I don't even have to call them in three months. Still have to call to downgrade Cinemax after one year.

Whats the joke? They turned on free premiums for you. Sounds like a good deal to me.

a big :righton: and +1 for all the posts in here.

Like a bunch of you I too used the information I found in here, that I had no idea about, too get 3 months of HBO/Starz and a year of Max.

Did the online Chat for HBO/Starz, took about 2 minutes total and he auto canceled it for me in 3 months so I won't be charged.
Had to call CSR for Max just to give them credit card number for autopay, but even thought only took a few minutes and they knew exactly what I was talking about.

Been Enjoying the channels for a few days now.

Thanks all.

Actually I have Direct-TV; my friend is the one with Verizon.

I realize that the whole point of the free preview was to showcase HBO's Alzheimer's Project miniseries. But if other cable-satt providers can unlock all the HBO's, you would expect Verizon to do the same.

And the "what a joke" line is sort of an inside joke. Those in the Phoenix area would remember the Tony Femino sports talk show on KTAR. His sidekick (Larry) would always utter "what a joke" when a game got blacked out (or any other sports related matter that he didn't agree with).
