I know you should be able to watch DVR events on a 625 with no cables connected. When I moved out to California I stayed with my mom for a few weeks before I flew out and I was watching recorded movies off my 625 with no connection to a LNBF. This was a little over a year ago and I no longer have the 625, I have 722 ;) Needless to say I don't miss my 625.
