Recently the remote has stopped working on my HR21 and the only way for it to be restored is to reset the box. But after a period of time the remote stops working again. Batteries are completely fresh and I am using it as an RF remote

any ideas?

Try switching it to IR mode and see if the problem continues.

When you push a remote button, and it doesn't respond, can you see a quick flash of the blue light on the front panel? If so, the DVR is getting the request and it's a problem with it responding. Some people have reported very slow responses with their DVRs with this release, solved by a reboot. That could be what's happening to you.
Opinions expressed by me are my own and do not necessarily reflect

actually, when the remote seemingly freezes, so do all the buttons on the front panel
which requires a full reboot to restore.

This just started about a week ago
