Comcast is now trying to buy GE. So what you ask? Well GE owns 80% of NBC Universal. NBC Universal operates all the NBC channels, news,sports,etc... If Comcast succeeds in its efforts they would control another large set of channels! Just more info to ponder:(

Comcast is NOT trying to buy GE. GE is considering spinning out NBC Universal at which time Comcast would buy a large percentage of the spun out company. There is also speculation that they would but the 20% (I think it is 20%) of NBC Universal that Vivendi owns and would like to get rid of.

This doesn't however change the point that Comcast would have control of a lot of stations.

I stand corrected, my mistake. The deal is to not purchase GE, but one of its assets. However in regards to the implication to DTV viewers I found these articles.

Make your own decision..
