RobertE, I have 2 HR24-500 in the same room, actually stacked), yesterday Sunday 11/7when I turned on one of the receivers, it was not in Dolby Digital, it was in surround sound, all the other channels seem to be just fine, that evening, I had recorded the NBC nightly news, I started watching it on the original receiver, it was still in surround sound. I then decided to try the other HR24-500 receiver, and it was in Dolby Digital. I also recorded a movie on Max, the main receiver was showing surround sound, but when I switched to the other receiver it was in Dolby Digital.
Do you have any idea what is causing this problem? Also, I have MRV.
Sorry this is so long, and I hope you can understand my post.
Thanks for any help.

I've seen this error but it doesn't seem to be documented in your list.

There was a problem connecting to DIRECTV. Retry in progress. (85)

diagnostic codes such as 14-390 or 76-489, the second part or last 3 digits of any related codes is just the receiver identifier, if you test all your receivers, all will have a different receiver identifier number

The Issue - my HR34-700 (Living Room) at the DirecTV MyApps site shows my HMC with a status of Delete. When in Delete status, I can't copy my TVapps from any of my receivers to a the HR34.

No one at DirecTV can figure out how it got into the Delete state for TVapps.

I change the room at My Equipment from Living Room to Family Room. No change at the MYApps site.

Went back to My Equipment and tried to Re-activate the HR34. That's when I got Error Code 100.

Anyone know what that code stand for?

The automated phone system allows for autherizations to be resent as well as directv.com (might want to add that in there)

Customer service is not required to resolve 722.


Also knowing 14 is a issue with communication with drive why hasnt any oen tried to use the Esata port?

I have had 2 error 14s on hddvr and it turned out that the drive was fine it was the internal sata failed . Probably a weak point the big D needs to look into .

Might be time for heat sinks on the boards

I am just now receiving a 868 code. This one is not listed on the list in this thread. Any ideas?

HR20-100. Actually, the whole string was 21-43-72-868. I know what the first three are but do not know what the last one is. 21 is bad for sure and I don't have a phone line attached to the unit so that is the 72. The signal strength one (43) is actually (oddly) a non-issue in that I get good strengths. Just the 868 I don't know.

I wondered....never seen that before. So I guess I should try to watch the remaining episodes I have for Fringe (very late doing this...too many good shows this year across the dial) before the drive comes up dead. Right now, the system boots up normally with no issues. My other HR20-100 died a couple months ago after 4+ years of service and a gentle move across the room. So I know it is only a matter of time on this one...

My HR20-100 had a 21-43-287 (internal storage error detected) and I called DirecTV over the weekend and as soon as I told the rep. that code he said they are shipping me a new receiver. So 21 codes are bad.
FYI: symptoms were: receiver kept re booting at least once a day, sometimes more. Picture freezes in live TV. Freezes & audio drops in recordings. VERY slow guide with missing data and VERY slow response to remote commands.

I'm getting a 14-384 code on a quite old HR20-700. I've been trying to nurse this box until I can get an HR44 (so it looks like close, but no cigar), as I have a fairly full 2TB eSATA. I was hoping to watch more of the recordings before the box fully died.

However, I'm getting that code both when the external drive is connected and when it's not. Is there something other than a bad drive that this code points to?

No it means a bad drive, but of course that includes all the electronics that connect to the drive. Since it happens with both internal and external drives, that suggests the problem is in something that is shared, like the sata controller. Still means a box replacement.

731 Resolution: Run IRD system test to make sure phone is OK. If not OK, troubleshoot phone line. If OK, have CS force a callback (est. time approx. 2 minutes). If a forced callback does not succeed see above reminder: “For Ext 731-743”. - Related OSD is 780 for broadband connected boxes.

Thanks, phone line is connected, the line is split to feed my phone base and the receiver, connections look ok. I always order ppv from my on-line account...thanks for the info.
