I have an old hd (H-10) receiver that I use as a standard definition receiver. I would be interested in getting ESPN and ESPN-2 in hd while the MPEG-2 are still in use.

I saw a place to add hd programming online, however, when I tried to it said something about being ineligible. Anybody know if they allow one to get just the MPEG-2 hd, while it lasts? Thanks.

Jim

PS...I realize I could upgrade etc, but am not interested at this time.

Not sure. Probably best to call DirecTV and speak with someone directly.

You'll need at least a 3-LNB Phase III or 5-LNB SlimLine to receive the 110ºW satellite that beams those original MPEG2 HD channels.
HD DVRs: HR34-700; HR24-500; (2) HR20-700 + WD eSATA 1TB drive/Antec MX1 case; HR21-700; HR21-200 w/AM21
Receivers: H25-500 HD Receiver; H21-100 HD Receiver
Mobile Devices: Nomad

I'd call Directv to add HD, they'll see you have a H10, and more than likely upgrade your receiver and dish for free. They upgraded all of mine for free.

As an FYI, ESPN and ESPN2 HD in MPEG2 will only be around for a few more months.
