I think most of you were probably familiar with my other web based signal strength posting tool and I have been working on ways to improve it. The web side of things I have not found a good way to add much to yet, but I did come up with a new offline version based in Excel with macros for the time being. This versions main benefit is that it is much easier for me to modify/add to/etc. in the future.

This tool is based entirely in Excel 2007 and does use macros (make sure to enable them for proper operation). The first worksheet will allow you to pick either SL3 or SL5 and then take you to the signal strength boxes you can fill in. After filling them in hit the submit button and it will move the data over into a plain text format that you can highlight (though it should already be highlighted) and copy and paste to the forum.

A few notes:
-Use the Tab key to move from one field to the next without having to use the mouse.
-You can go back and change signal strengths, then hit submit again, and it will create a new set of data you can copy/paste.
-The sheets are protected so you can only edit the cells you need to.
-Easy way to clear all the fields is to reopen the workbook.
-Please give me feedback!

The file is linked to below. It was created in Excel 2007 and is zipped.

Attachment won't open. Windows complains it's invalid.

With your excel and the other web version, I've always wondered why the spot beam transponders are included. They are next to useless for any diagnostics.

I had requests for them before, they could always be removed if people wish ;)

Changed it from an attachment to a link. I noticed one machine I tested it on did not like it when attached for some reason...

Ya, this one is a bit more limited since it requires a newer version of excel and macros. That is why I am leaving the web version up too ;)

I will test it, I have Office 2002 with the converters installed.

In reference to the spot beams, couldn't we add a location or zip code field, that way tracking of the spots could be more of a reference.

ok, the Excel 2007 file opened fine on on my WinXP Pro and Office XP setup, however I got a warning of the macro's being disabled due to security level being too high and the macro's were not digitally signed.
I changed my security setting and it opend fine and I was able to use the file with no problems.
Raining pretty good here right now, signals are lower than usual. Also 103C transponders 17 & 22 are listed as NA on DirecTv receivers.

Sounds good. Macros will always need to be allowed like that on most people's machines. Just one of the downsides of using Macros, but it simplifies a lot of the steps for the end user.

On my 103 spot beams I have NA in all the 17-24 line. How come sone have a number or it is available? I have and HR22 and H23 Receiver with the SL 5 dish. I am also in the NYC Market if that matters:confused:

It might have changed since I last looked (I based this on the web version maps). Also, spot beams vary from area to area as they are just as they say...spots. They are used for locals only.
