Just thought I would repost in this forum because this is where they threw the upgrade threads.

The drives that come out of the DVR's are in "Power Up in Standby" mode thus do not show up in normal bios and OS settings. I spent hours messing with it before I found the answer. All of the drives I have replaced function fine and have been running in servers for over a year after performing the procedure below.

Steps:

1. Download ISO http://sourceforge.n...ckage_id=226068
2. Burn image
3. Place in boot cd drive
4. Place the upgraded drive on any SATA port and power up. (No need to even remove your main disk because the setting is already disabled)
5. Boot up and the CD finds and changes the power up setting. Ignore the "remove disk and reset" instructions.
6. Eject disk, restart and the drive now functions normal and can be formatted and read normally.
