Efective 3/3/10 E* has reduced the upgrade fees for the "DISH'n It Up" promotion.
Plan "A" customers can upgrade to any reciever(s) for $0 ea.
Plan "B" customers can upgrade to: any non-HD reciever(s) for $0 ea., any non-DVR HD reciver for $50 ea. and any DVR HD reciever(s) for $100 ea.
The $15 or $95 "Technician visit fee" still applies. Good news at a time when good news was needed though.

Since DISH is now charging the same for HD and SD extra receivers it makes sense to get rid of all the SD machines out there that they can. Subscribers that already have a first HD receiver might as well upgrade them all.

What is a Plan "A" customer?

Can I assume this applies to the 922?

Good questions, Kent and Lee.

When I go to My Account -> Equipment, all I see is remotes and accessories available.
Dish Network VIP722k - Gold 250 + HD/Platinum
110,119, and 129 on Dish 1000.2
Dynex (BestBuy) 42" HDTV, Onkyo TX-SR303 Receiver

I should have specified all "currently" available HD DVR's. As we all know, the922 is not currently available unfortunatly. The "A" or "B" customer designation is based on factors like length of service and service history. If you call E* or a local retailer, they can tell you which category you fall in. Other than speaking to an E* CSR or a retailer I'm not sure where a customer can find this info. I was notified of the changes this morning by my equipment supplier.

That is good news but what if you just had new HD receivers added 2 days ago?? I had to pay $100 ($50 each) to add 2 211's and sign the 2 year contract. Would this mean I could now have gotten those for free??

Given that i paid 0 for a 211 in december, you may be a plan b customer, in ehich case you'd have paid the same $50.

"Belligerent and numerous."

Sometimes I update the Dish Network FAQ

AT200, Hopper & 360 via HDMI to Onkyo 505 to basement 42" Westy, Hopper via Comp-over-Cat5 to living room 42" Vizio with a Roku 3, Joey to Toshiba 32" LCD with a Logitech Revue. You want fries with that? Pull up to the 2nd window.

But that was in December. You got in before the pricing changes that started at the beginning of February. I would not have had to pay either had I done this all before those changes.

It was sent via internal Retailer communications/updates. It may not have been released to the general public (yet). But I can confirm that the new pricing is in place.

The promotion is called "DISH'n It Up". There is a brief description of the promo in the FAQ section on the E* website. No real promo details there tho.

The CSR I spoke to this morning was aware of the new pricing structure. As far as training, the DIU promo has been around for several years now, only the pricing has changed.

Do they usually waive the $95 fee? I always see people post how it's cheaper to get a HD DVR throuh Dish but for that price it's $4 less and $12 a month more.

The install charge will not be waived. Dish is adamant about that.

That is new because upgrade installs were free in some cases. I got one about 9 months ago. Is the $15 installation for those with DHPP?
