The majority of the Spanish speaking population is in the west/south. That would be my guess as to why.

Univision HD is the only HD Spanish channel at 99 (or 103 for that matter). It's available in (almost?) every package, whereas Telefutura is not. Therefore, it makes sense to carry Univision HD on 99, but not Telefutura.

That being said, given the bandwidth available at 110/119, I'm surprised they didn't add Telefutura East HD as well.

Are there Spanish MPEG-4 HD channels on Ku band at 119?

For instance on DirecTV's web site when I select to view the HD channel lineups included in the various Spanish packages, all I see are the English HD channels on Ka band.

Certainly you don't mean those are Spanish versions of the same Ka band HD English channels transmitted on Ku band at 119 do you?

No, he's talking about TeleFutura. If you go to the HD channel lineup for the Spanish packages, it's there. That's the only HD channel being carried on 110 or 119. The remaining ones you see in those packages are all at 99 or 103.

Has anyone with an MPEG2 HD IRD checked to see if the feed is there or not?

Univision is on Choice and up. Telefutura is on Optimo Mas and up. So for Telefutura you need a Spanish package

Tpn. 23 on 119 (DirecTV 7S) is listed as a spot beam transponder, not CONUS. :confused:

The Network Decoder does show TPN 23 as a Spot Beam, not a CONUS beam.

I need to re-discover my sources for that information and I'll provide a follow up post, for both your sanity and mine too. I have noticed, however, other cases where the Spot vs CONUS definition appears to have been blurred.

I've reviewed all 119 data.
Directv has TPN's 22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31,&32 available.
TPN's 23,25,29,&31 seem to be Spots.
TPN23-118 LIL's
TPN25-119 LIL's
TPN29-120 LIL's
TPN31-136 ?+2 LIL's

TPN's 22,24,26,27,28,30,&32 appear to be CONUS.
Only 22,26,27,30, & 32 appear to be in use for CONUS SD channels.
TPN22-20 CONUS
TPN26-21 CONUS
TPN27-18 CONUS
TPN30-19 CONUS
TPN32-19 CONUS

Apparently TPN 24 and 28 are not listed in guide data.
Since KU and KA data streams are different (or SD and HD)
The decoder may be misrepresenting the HD data. Originally setup to interpret SD info.
Thus Telefutura may be 24 or 28 and the tests on the other.
Will try to get confirmation on this.

The TPN Map (Excel) attachment has been updated based on 5/1/10 data from doctor j. The other three documents have not been changed.

Our TPN 23 at 119W anamoly remains - i.e. the TFThd channel is shown on TPN 23, which historically has been a Spot Beam channel.

An interesting note from Doctor J, "May be premature but Idaho Falls ID., Joplin MO., & Biloxi, MS. LIL channels showed up this morning.
They are in NET 11 and NET 15 CONUS slots and are not labeled by their LIL NET #."

If you have a problem viewing or downloading the Excel (XLS) TPN Map file, try using IE as your browser or even use the Firefox 'View this page in IE' option. That will fix the problem.

I have filed a trouble report with Firefox.
