Are other baseball fans relegated to the “minors” like this? With all the part-time RSN’s available on Direct seems small potatoes to give S.E. braves fans a bone.

Maybe the station owner says no.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

NEVER understood why Braves games are blacked out here in West TN(6 hours from Atlanta) on D*, while my neighbor across the street gets the games through Charter!!!

Granted, the games are available in SD, but HOW can Charter show them on the regular network in HD??

Same here but only 4-hours away in Ala. and available locally

I'll ask again. Does anyone know if inDemand gets an HD feed of the Peachtree TV games for Extra Innings?

inDemand HD stinks on a stick. Very few games and from what I saw, they lean toward Yankees, Red Sox, etc.

No matter what complaining you get about DirecTV EI, it is because we are spoiled.

When there is a lack of games from a team or HD from a team on DirecTV, I pretty much blame the team. Geez, if DirecTV can get Phillies feeds in HD, they can get ANYONE.

Peachtree is NOT an RSN. It is a local OTA channel. Getting the games at all is above normal. Why there is not HD, no idea. Could be a technical issue. Could be that Peachtree won't share it outside the local area. Could be the Braves. Could be DirecTV doesn't want to pay what it will take to put it on.

I stayed at a hotel in Toronto CA last month and was shocked to find Peachtree TV as one of the channels available at this hotel and the Braves games were not blacked out on this channel.

So is it really "just" a local channel? If it is then how did this hotel pick it up? I am 100% sure that it was not just showing the Braves games...

Peachtree is available in Canada instead of TBS. Goes back to the superstation days, the cable TBS never was available in Canada. Same thing happens with WGN, they get the Chicago version instead of the cable one.

In Augusta GA, I can get it for Braves games only...it is shown on CSS in SD and on a stand alone HD channel dedicated to only Peachtree Braves games. However only SD on D*.

Trying to figure out the mishmash of US and Canadian TV that makes up Canadian TV will make you dizzy. I think it is the leading reason why Canadians end sentences with "eh?" They are confused by primetime! ;)

I don't know if this is a hopeless cause but with the new RSN's being added by directv, I was wondering why Atl Braves fans have been relegated to the outfield in regards to HD programming.

When Foxsports does not carry braves games the broadcast is demoted to Atlanta’s Peachtree channel. The unfortunate part of this arrangement is that Peachtree (Old channel 17) is not carried in HD by Direct. Also we only get the “non-commercial” feed of the game. (In between innings no sound but fans in stadium)

Are other baseball fans relegated to the “minors” like this? Viewers in Atlanta get the HD feed of games but those in the S.E. on directv only get the SD version. With all the part-time RSN’s available on Direct seems small potatoes to give S.E. braves fans a bone.

I'm with you on getting HD but I really enjoy the breaks with no commercials. It adds to the experience. :-)

it does seem bizarre since Liberty owns the Braves that they would make the Peachtree TV HD feed available for DirecTV customers in the region or get MLBEI.

Liberty is a strange corporation. They own 100% of the Braves who play on Peachtree Tv which is owned by Time Warner which Liberty has a minority interest in. They are carried by Directv which is owned by you guessed right Liberty Media. Sure seems like they would work hard to make the Braves broadcast in sterling HD.

Not only that, Liberty removed XM Radio from Directv. Guess who owns stock in XM Radio, Liberty Media. Strange how they do business.

It is pretty lame to not have the Braves in HD when I'm getting every other team in HD with Extra Innings. I love DirecTV and their awesome version of extra Innings, but it gets frustrating knowing that just over a month ago the Peachtree games were in HD on Comcast. That was through CSS. I wonder if Comcast has a hand in this.

I thought the new ruling the fcc made where comcast had to make their broadcast available at a fair price to direct and dish? I was hoping they would pickup css so the games would be in hd.

CSS doesn't produce the broadcast, though. That's just the channel Charter and Comcast use to deliver the Peachtree TV games to their customers. I don't believe this particular issue has anything to do with CSS.

They might have picked up an exclusive deal for HD rights outside of Atlanta. I really have no idea. I solved my problem by "moving" to the Atlanta DMA. I get the same signal strength as I did for Knoxville locals, which is a 95. Everything is peachy now.

from wikipedia article on tbs television

================================
Split

In late June 2007, Turner Broadcasting announced that WTBS would change call letters and become WPCH-TV, and would be branded as Peachtree TV. According to Turner, the new channel 17 would offer sitcoms and movies geared specifically toward an Atlanta audience. The new station would also broadcast 45 Atlanta Braves baseball games next season. The change occurred on October 1. In addition, the channel 17 change allowed Atlanta cable and satellite television viewers, for the first time since the early 1980s, to receive the national TBS signal as of that date.[3] Most cable and satellite companies previously carried WTBS's local Atlanta signal instead of the national TBS channel. Following the change, cable systems in Canada were legally required to continue carrying the local Peachtree TV signal, instead of switching to the national TBS feed.[4]

Liberty does not own DirecTV. John Malone owned a significant stake until recently. No Liberty representatives have a seat on DirecTV's board and D* is an independent company not owned by any media giant.

Is it possible D* is blacking out the channel in upstate SC? I used to get it but now all I get is the DirecTV logo. I get the SD feed on CSS (Charter cable), but absolutely nothing from the 4 or 5 channels listed by DirecTV over this past weekend. Very frustrating as I used to get Peachtree (albeit lame SD).

Wish I could have seen it. I was stuck watching the Giants broadcast since I'm in the SF Bay Area. Gotta love blackout rules.
