I can post wikipedia links too:
http://en.wikipedia....e_United_States

So more than 10% of the population speaks Spanish here. I guess it might make sense for about 10% of the HD stations to be in Spanish too then. What percentage is there right now?

Don't get me wrong, I don't speak Spanish, and I don't really watch these channels. I also think everyone living in the USA should have to be able to speak English. But I have no problem with D* trying to serve their customers better, or trying to appeal to more customers.

Don't you just love generalizations! Just because someone watches these channels don't mean they can't speak English.

I do watch Univision from time to time(I love The Cristina show).

Ok, Tuned in to Univision, really hoping that like most Amercian channels, which provide SAP Closed captioning in Spanish, that Univision would provide English captions, but Ive checked all the options Service 2 thru 6, and only get Spanish captions on option 1.

Only during certain times of the day will HD programming be present. Try around 8:00pm tonight and research some telenovelas. You will not be dissapointed with the beautiful ladies. ;)

Sounds like a big fat waste of bandwidth

LOL. Must not realize that these 2 channels get bigger ratings then the vast majority of "cable" channels.

Need someone with a non-H HD receiver who gets the Spanish package and Telefutura to tune to 408.

Checking to see if it's MPEG2 or MPEG4 HD.
DirecTV: Genie HR44, H25, CCK, GenioGo, SWiM-16 & SWiM-8, DECA to Gigabit Switch with FiOS (75/75)
FiOS: Roamio Pro's (2), Roamio Plus, Mini's (4) with Ultimate HD (My Roamio Thoughts)

Univision East HD doesn't seem to include the mapping to 41 in the NYC DMA yet. 402 works though. Too bad Telefutura is only the west coast feed which is not available here. It would have been nice to have seen tonight's match in HD.

I've always thought they should have english captioning. Maybe we should write to the FCC. Sabado Gigante looks like a good show to watch. Problem is I only understand about 20% of it.

I didn't even notice that I get Mexican channels. Guess I don't really care if they are HD or not.

Interesting we have a national broadcast of Univision in HD on DirecTV when in some markets like Atlanta we have a local OTA station, carried SD by DirecTV of can be tuned OTA, that is a Univision affiliate carrying the same broadcast.

I just read the same info over at another forum. Someone with a SL5 and Latino package please go out and cover over your 110 and 119 LNBs to find out which one....

There are channels in the 400's that we all get. The Univision and Telefutura feeds just two of them. We also get HITN, Galavision, Once, and a few other spanish language channels. Our local Univision station has been HD for a few months now.

Hence the reason why some of us resent the kowtowing to Spanish speaking "citizens".

I just realized why there is no English captioning. Especially on a live show. You know how fast they speak. Imagine trying to translate AND type out what they're saying in real time? Aye, mami!:eek2:
