Some sporting events I have noticed that the timer will automatically add 1 hour to the recording window. Why does this happen? I only have my settings to record 3 mins after the time. The 1 hour extended time frame only happens on sporting events not on movies or other programming.

An hour padding is standard on live sporting events to help catch sports that run over on time.

Non live shows use the default time that you have set for other programs. You can override the hour when you set up the timer by going into the options screen - but the "sports" default is one hour.
