Ok i got 2 issues.

1st is is it possible to just use a patch cable to go from receiver to receiver? or does it need to go through my router?

2nd issue is i called and had mrv added but im still not seeing the mrv tab in my HR20 and HR24 and it has been over an hour.

What am i doing wrong?

Yes, but you will want to manually assign IP addresses to both receivers. What model receiver(s)/DVR(s) do you have?

Login to your D* account and verify that the CSR did activate the MRV service. Try a menu restart on both receivers.

Now how do i manually assign ip addresses and what should i use? Also prob here in a week im going to get another network cable so i can have both receivers connected to the internet. So when i go that rout will it automatically find everything at that time?

You can set IP addresses by going into System Setup/Network/Advanced Setup.

When your receivers are all connected to a router, and that router is connected to the internet, you will probably choose to reset your network settings on the DVRs and let the router assign IP addresses to them.

Under the Network settings, you can manually assign the IP address. I would use 192.168.1.x, where x is different for each receiver. However, if you are planning on connecting both to a router, the router will most likely be set to assign IP addresses automatically. In that case, you might just want to hold out manually assigning IPs. Otherwise, you will have to go back into the Network settings and change it back to automatic. Up to you.

That is sad.

I'm sure Directv can't wait to get their hands on your unit.

Try resending authorization to your receivers first.

What version software is on your HR20? Press and hold the Info button for 3 seconds until the System Setup screen appears. Also, what is the model of your HR20?

Sweet, i got it.

What i ended up doing was leaving the HR20 connected to the router when i got home got a message that stated MRV has been authorized.

Connected HR24 to HR20 and they both saw each other.

Thanks for all the help and Happy 4th!

You shouldn't have needed to do that. The authorization for MRV is via satellite and not via the Internet. I would think that it just took a while to the authorization to be sent after you hit resend.

Glad you are working though.
