I saw that amazon.com now carries the directv hr 24 dvr for $199.99!

...unfortunately this is yet another case where you better read all the info to learn its a lease unit. Nothing wrong with that...but it sure is a shame these vendors almost fail to disclose this in their information...

I see now why it's $209. According to the technical specs, this one plays Blu-Rays.

Wow that's cool. Do you just have to put the Blu-Ray Disc on top of it or do you have to cut it down to fit in the card slot?

Just trim it down to fit in the slot. You'll lose the still, trailers, commentaries, documentaries, games, but still have the main feature. Just trim the right bits :)

I actually submitted some suggested changes to the product page, clarifying the lease and deleting the bluray reference (keeping the 1080P, though that may confuse people).
