Is there any way of knowing when Wilmington NC (DMA 132) is going to get its locals in HD? Just saw an announcement the Dish is now offering them but I've not seen any mention from Directv. Seems a little strange since higher DMAs are scheduled, and yet Wilmington was the first area in the country to go all digitial (I realize that's not quite the same as all HD) - but we have had HD locals via OTA for a couple of years now, so the local studios have been ready.

Since we haven't seen test channels added yet, I suspect they'll launch on 8/25 (assuming they are still planned for this month).

From what I've heard, the uplink equipment is already in place at Wilmington for DirecTV. It's just a matter of either capacity or DirecTV deciding it needs to happen.

The latest set of launched/announced HD locals are all markets that were not previous available via DirecTV even in SD. I get the impression they were more concerned about providing some locals to these markets where nothing was available rather than trying to upgrade the ones that are currently offered in SD.

That's just a guess. I hope you get your HD locals soon! I've been there. When I was in Huntsville, we didn't get our HD locals until a couple years after some of the markets in the 100s.

Is this still correct for Rochester, NY:

NETWORK NAME	CHAN	TPN	SATELLITE	NOTES

672	CW	14	21	4 Sats @101W	cw
672	WROC	8	31	D7S @119W	cbs
672	WHEC	10	31	D7S @119W	nbc
672	WHAM	13	31	D7S @119W	abc
672	WXXI	21	31	D7S @119W	wxxi
672	WUHF	31	31	D7S @119W	fox
672	WROC	8	2	SW1 @103W	wrocdt
672	WHEC	10	2	SW1 @103W	whecdt

672	WXXI	21	2	SW1 @103W	wxxidt

I can`t figure out how to glean this from the lists. Also, Buffalo NY would be good to know sats and Tps. Thanks

I was sort of expecting to see the Monroe LA locals pop up in test.

I did notice that KFXP (Fox Idaho Falls ID) has gone HD. I'm not really sure when this happened, because I hadn't checked in a while. Those MPEG4-only channels are difficult to monitor because they can go HD without any obvious change in the transponder map data. Then you just have to trust DirecTV's website.

Thanks as always to doctorj and gct...

Just as a heads up, DirecTV's contract with local stations owned by News-Press & Gazette is set to expire around midday this coming Monday. According to these stations, negotiations are "at an impasse".

The following stations would be affected:

Colorado Springs CO: KRDO
El Paso TX: KVIA
Palm Springs CA: KESQ, KDFX, KUNA
Idaho Falls ID: KIFI

These negotiation issues have apparently been ongoing. Though the first three markets have been launched for a while, some of those stations weren't added to DirecTV until earlier this year. Also, DirecTV didn't launch Idaho Falls until June. So it would be a little ironic if that station disappeared so quickly.

The statements on the websites of these stations make it clear that News-Press & Gazette is seeking retransmission compensation. Carriage of local CW subchannels are also at stake in El Paso, Palm Springs, and Idaho Falls.

Hopefully no one will lose local programming...

Maybe some good news here. The websites of all of the listed TV stations have been updated to say that negotiations are still ongoing, but News-Press & Gazette has agreed to keep its channels on DirecTV for now. Negotiations are supposed to resume on Tuesday.

While checking on the situation with the News-Press & Gazette stations in Palm Springs, I noticed that KPSP HD is now available in that market. This will be reflected in the next updates.

Locals in Monroe, LA did launch today 8/25/2010.

They are

10 NBC KTVE
12 PBS KETZ
13 PBS KLTM
14 FOX KARD
39 IND KMCT

It does not appear that there is an agreement with KAQY (ABC) or KNOE (CBS) at this time.

Good catch. Given the way things had been going lately with weird network assignments, I would have suspected Sixto would see the channels up in test beforehand. I guess they were added after last week's transponder map update.

As for KNOE, I suspect it's no coincidence at all that the CW affiliate is one of their subchannels. And of course, they operate KAQY.

You have WALB, WABW, and WFXL listed as being on SW1 at 103(s) on TPN #5. You have WSST listed as being on SW1 at 103(s) on TPN #3.

I get 0 on those transponders.
