Hr-20-100 works fine when live but breaks up when watching recorded material or unpausing live tv. Also seems ok on MRV just seems local to the unit. Sounds like a drive issue. Just wanted another opinion.

Sounds like a drive issue to me. Is it leased or owned?

That may not be a bad idea since a replacement from what I have been reading may not be much better.

Do you use OTA?

I do have ota connected but rarely use except for the all weather sub channels. Antenna only uhf and since the transition didn't want to spring for new one.

If you use OTA and replace it through Directv, as long as you let them know you use OTA, you will most likely (never guaranteed) end up with another HR20. So that may be better than even dealing with an external drive and you are already familiar with that model. Unless you just want increased storage which is never bad.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind.
