I also believe the receiver uses your internet connection for Local's on the 8's on The Weather Channel. I am only guessing because it does not allow trickplay for the Local's part.
Nope, internet not used for that since non internet connected STB's get it.
TVApps is another thing that uses the internet connection for.

It uses the broadband connection for reporting PPV purchases and for sending some information to the DIRECTV servers not depending on your privacy preferences, because they default back to anonymous anytime you do anything with your account in the slightest.
Fixed it for ya. I keep having to change mine back to opt-out, it is getting rather annoying.
Owned H25-700 and H24-700 off and packed for the move.
