if u have a swm system - look for the power inserter plugged into main recvr with a green light - if red or not green unplug from power for 20 sec and the plug back in - this resets your swm -

Not really sure what that means. How do I know what I have?

Also do the DVRs vary in storage capacity? Since I just upgraded I want the largest capacity one available.

All the newer DVRs have 500GB drives. As for whether you have a SWM system, if you push the {DASH} key on your remote it might say "SWiM Connected."
Opinions expressed by me are my own and do not necessarily reflect
those of DBSTalk.com, DIRECTV, DISH, The Signal Group, or any other company.

320 GB

So why did I get this when I just upgraded in June?

I want 500 GB. Recording HD footy fills it up quickly.
Been a great customer with no issues since 06, finally make an upgrade and new 2yr commitment and they give me older equipment. What a joke.

Who do I need to contact, direct, my local guy or what?

I was thinking of just using this DVR in another room and getting a new one at some point, but not sure.

I may not be the best one to ask, since I rarely get over 50% used on the 300 GB drive I have. 50 hrs is more than enough for me.
Some like the HR20 over the HR21,22,23 models.
All of these can be expanded with an eSATA is size matters.

thanks for the info, think I may try to discuss my situation with the local provider.
And the service tech if he shows up tomorrow as scheduled.

Signing up for a new 2yr commitment I think I deserve the latest and best DVR and dish setup.

Could someone please tell me what models I should ask to get for my HD DVR? I want a 500GB or the biggest they offer, going to talk to them tomorrow.
Same with the dish itself, I want to be able to get FSEspanol, and also the best dish on offer now.
