First time I've paid any attention to this channel. What's with the fake sound effects of the ball hitting the catchers mit on every pitch? Seriously???????
Perhaps I Misremembered.

Even when the batter hits the ball? Or is it not really every pitch?

I'm sure Directv can't wait to get their hands on your unit.

Seems like they have a mic right by the plate.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

No, not hits. It doesn't sound fake...it's just like they turn on a mic during key pitches.

It's Fake. You can hear it even when they foul tip the ball. Have you ever heard a 67 mph curve ball pop the mit? I haven't.

There is a parabolic microphone on the mesh screen immediately behind home plate at Yankee Stadium. When a foul ball hits it, you can hear the plastic cone get knocked and it sounds like plastic. Go to a game and you'll see what I am talking about.

Riiiight, the audio engineers are able to inject a fake sound on strike 3s.

Some of my son's 50mph pitches pop the mitt in the Little League....seriously.

It's not fake, just a mic

Why yes, I have. Though not often. Depends upon the mitt and where/how the ball is caught, of course.

I watch a lot of the Yankees games on YES HD and I have no idea what you're talking about. Everything sounds normal to me.

This sounds like what happened in the movie Bull Durham except it was radio and they were recreating a road game over the phone.

It's obvious the OP knows he is wrong since all he can say now is "FAKE" and "Fake. Sound effects". C'mon man give it a rest. The sounds are real and this topic is now dead.

Uh, yes.

As a person who has sat in the front row at the home team on deck circle in AA baseball (Bowie Baysox) for 16 years, I can tell you that the ball makes a sound every time it hits the glove.

I can also tell you that sound is a terrible way to determine the speed of a pitch. The way the ball is caught plays a bigger role in the sound. A 70 mph pitch can sound louder than a 92 mph pitch.

Gee, even when the ball clips the glove on a foul tip, you can hear the sound if the crowd is not loud.

Put a microphone near the plate or a directional one pointed at the catchers mitt and you will hear every pitch that reaches it.

The only fake thing is that they probably turn the pot up on the mitt microphone.

Since we are talking about YES, did anyone else who has EI not have today's game appear on YES and NESN? I was able to watch in on MLBNet, and on the game mix channel, but both the direct NESN and YES feed just showed the DirecTV logo.

It is difficult to give specific examples of were/when this is occurring via this forum. All I can tell you is that I watched the entire game and there were several times when the ball hit the bat (or the bat hit the ball whichever) and you still heard the popping sound. I asked my wife to listen. I did not tell her why just to listen. She agrees that the sound at times is fake.
It's not worth arguing the point.
Like I said in my original post this is the first time I have watched a game on this channel. I maintain that in my opinion they are manipulating the sound some how.
Perhaps I Misremembered.

I watched it on YES. Not EI's remapping, but the YES channel on 631. I have EI, but typically use the RSNs in the 600s for games.

They were on both for me.

NESN feed on 721-1
YES Feed on 722-1

Switched back and forth throughout the game.
