From Engadget:

It's been five years since TiVo first promised DirecTV customers an HD DVR and two years since the company reaffirmed that claim, so if you've been waiting patiently you probably know what we're going to say -- it's been delayed yet again. TiVo marketing VP Joe Miller told PC Magazine that the fabled DirecTiVo will actually appear "early next year," which should give you plenty of time to work out your rage.

I'm afraid Tivo is making itself irrelevant in the Directv world. Or have we been there for awhile already?

Agreed. Is there really any point to having a more expensive alternative to D*'s product?
What features will/could it have to make it worth a premium price?
Remember, when it comes to audio/video, more is always better. (This does NOT apply to remote controls!)

I still don't get the TiVo anticipation. I have a HR24 sitting on top of my HD XL and both record a ton of shows for me. I find using one no better than the other, and the TiVo UI kinda sucks.

I loved Tivo when it first came out, but now that I have the HR series, I find myself wondering if all the extras I get now will be added to a new Tivo interface... I doubt it... kind of like the HR interface...

Me too!
They will actually get this out the door in 2011?
I do, I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.

The only thing I like, above the rest on my HD, is that I can download Amazon VOD to it.
