Updates for Certain Customer Fees – Effective September 29, 2010

-Service Change Fee – The customer fee that was formerly called a “Transaction Fee” will be updated to be called the “Service Change Fee” effective September 29, 2010.

-How the “Service Change Fee” will be Charged Effective September 29, 2010 – Prior to September 29, 2010, customers were charged $5.00 ($20.00 for adult programming) whenever they changed the programming they were subscribing to on their account. Effective September 29, 2010, we will change the way customers are charged for this fee to help provide them with more flexibility.

-Within the First 60 Days of Customer Account Activation – Please note that a Service Change Fee will NOT be charged to a customer account within the first 60 days of activation.

-After the First 60 Days of Customer Account Activation – A customer will be charged the $5.00 Service Change Fee (or $20.00 for adult programming) if they change the programming on their account when they were only subscribing to it for 30 days or less. Customers who change their programming when it has been on their account for more than 30 days will not be charged a “Service Change Fee.”

-Service Plan Cancellation Fee – An existing customer who adds the Service Plan to their account will be charged a $25 Service Plan Cancellation Fee when the customer cancels the Service Plan from their account and has had the Service Plan for 150 days or less. An existing customer who adds the Service Plan to their account will not be charged a Service Plan Cancellation Fee if the customer cancels the Service Plan after having the Service Plan for more than 150 days.

Some good news for a change.:)

Wow, that's a really good customer-oriented change. I can appreciate that. It lowers my cost for RedZone! :)

"Belligerent and numerous."

Sometimes I update the Dish Network FAQ

AT200, Hopper & 360 via HDMI to Onkyo 505 to basement 42" Westy, Hopper via Comp-over-Cat5 to living room 42" Vizio with a Roku 3, Joey to Toshiba 32" LCD with a Logitech Revue. You want fries with that? Pull up to the 2nd window.

That makes way to much sense! Are you sure this is from DishNetwork?

That can't be right. Those changes are actually reasonable. :D

So does this mean if I decide to drop from AT 250 to AT 200 after having AT250 for more than 30 days there will no longer be a "downgrade fee"? If so this is really good news in these economically challenging times.

Let's see...

Service plan cancellation fee ($25) is charged if you cancel the Service Plan before you have had it more than 150 days - that's 3 months, more or less.

Service plan is $5.95 per month, so 3 months is roughly $18. Well so now instead of cancelling immediately, you can keep it for 3 months and then cancel - it only costs you $18, and not the $25 for immediate cancellation.

So, for the shrewd the Service Plan cancellation fee has been effectively reduced to $18.

Am I off here anywhere?

150 Days is approx 5 months, not 3.

$5.95* 5 = ~$30
You CAN put antennas on your owned and/or controlled property...
