About once a day, it seems to not take all the channel numbers as I type them with the remote.

Example: I type in 206 to change to ESPN and most of the time the 2 will take, it will say channel not available, then the 06 will pop up and give me the same error.

Sometimes it goes away quickly, sometimes it takes a couple minutes for it to take all 3 numbers. Is this normal? Oh, I also have an AM21 hooked up to it. Most of the time it works without a hitch, but it gets very frustrating (esp. to my wife) when it happens.

That's been an ongoing issue for MANY months. A way around the problem is to hit the INFO button first to bring up the channel banner and then enter the numbers. From what I've seen when you enter the 1st digit the box gets busy bringing up the channel banner and misses the key entry for the next digit(s). By bringing the channel banner up first the box can then listen for the key entries.

See post My Setup for configuration info.

RAD's suggestion is a good one. Our theory is that the processor is "busy" with other tasks. Invoking the info button captures the task priority and allows channel number input. There are a lot of various processes going on, and the older (non-HR24 series) units are on the edge at various times, as evidenced by difficulty in accepting channel input numbers, or assorted GUI tasks. For some reason, only known to the coders, the INFO request interrupts the general "busy-ness" and allows normal input.

The good news, is the problem is absent or minimal more often than not. The bad news is that it's been going on a long time and may or may not be fixable.

All of my units are non 24 series, and I don't find it to be a problem the vast majority of the time...but when it is a problem....what can I say...it is a problem. In that case, the INFO button is a help.
