I really screwed up. I switched to Time Warner Cable to save a buck.
This one year contract can't end fast enough.
Nothing can touch Directv.

I think most of us could have told you that. If my cable company had a decent-sized DVR, I'd consider switching, but it's not enough, especially with the lack of HD channels.

ha, ha

Just found out IM not under a contract. I guess I was stupid enough to go with cable but smart enough not to sign a contract.
Now if I could get DTV to let me come back under a one year contract vs two.

If you know D* is your best option, why are you reluctant to sign a 2 year deal?

When I was on vacation (in Hawaii) the Condo we rented had TWC... OMG the interface on the DVR was horrid! and the ads in the menus drove me nuts, and the box was sooo slow to change channels and bring up the ugly orange/blue guide. And the picture was horrible...

Though I didn't expect much picture wise in Hawaii, but it made me realize how bad TWC was compared to comcast even.

Interesting the difference in experience I had with TW Cable for 3 weeks. The picture quality wasn't there, but the performance of the atlantic scientific DVR blew away my HR22. When you change a channel, it was instantaneous. No waiting 3 seconds for it to lock in. And if you hit "channel up" 3 times from say channel 200, you were on ch 203 in a split second. With my HR22, if I hit it 3x's quick, I'll end up on ch 201. And the menus and guide popped up immediately as well. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing I liked about TW cable.

Channel changing has always been faster with cable, probably always will be, and if thats important to you, you should use a non-SAT provider. Channel surfing will probably never be a strong suit of sat tv.
