Yeah, it's midnight. I'm sitting here waiting for the cable guy to show up and install two HD DVRs. I will get the Yes Network one way or the other. Fortunately, Cablevision has not commitment period, so if they agree tonight, I'll take the Cablevision HD DVRs back tomorrow. Cablevision is aware of my plans and is okay with what I'm doing.

Blind allegiance to NOI is the major reason America doesn't manufacture anymore.

A small business depends on customers. And secures customers by providing better goods and/or services than its competitors.

Large corporations have proved that providing better goods and services are secondary to maximizing NOI. Maximizing NOI can be achieved by cutting expenses (too often, workers), and it's not unusual for a corporation's CFO to admit that selling more, or investing in R&D to improve the product or service, is detrimental to NOI.

That's why Wall Street profits have in many ways surpassed pre-Great Recession levels, why America is destined to import far more goods than it exports, and why unemployment is consigned to hover around 9 percent.

Blind allegiance to NOI will put any business down over the medium to long term.

Was thinking to do the same thing with Comcast but I'll give Directv till next weekend if the channel goes off air because there is no guarantee the same thing is not going to happen when is Comcast time to get a new agreement...

same with me and Time Warner here in Manhattan...worse comes to worse I have 1 month of a full cable bill..and if it lingers like the months Versus was off...hmm then that will be time to ponder...so I have 2 high bills for this month..for now

I only have D* in one room since the Versus pull...when that happened i called D* and I scaled back my service to 1 TV..same way per the fine print they reserve the right to alter programming...I too reserve the right to scale back what I pay them..Ive had the Time Warner Coax in my HD since im still on the books to them for Road Runner High Speed..so the coax lead was already there and the Time Warner Box is already hooked up and AMC BBC TCM IFC Sundance all in HD.....ahhhhhh so nice...VOD without a DVR even better!!

I'm probably going to give it about a week before going to Comcast as well. If they can't resolve things by then, I will go back to Comcast. (Considering how long it took to resolve things with Versus, I expect this could also go on for a long time and I will not wait this one out.)

Please remember, in no way am I giving up my D* sub. I had the Cablevision HD DVR put in today and it was a pretty poor performance equipment-wise. The guy that came out had a bunch of banged up DVRs in the back of his truck and that was all he had. First one wouldn't boot up properly, second one wouldn't record, a dialog box came up and said there was a problem with the HDD. The third one worked. Big ugly DVR! I hope this gets settled tonight so I can return this thing tomorrow.

Anyone who has problems with our GUI should check out CV's. Terrible. 4:3. Haven't watched anything on it yet. Only plan to use it for the Yankees' games.

I think you're right...but, still, DirecTV losing YES would also have an impact on its reputation as the service for sports fans (which is what YES is counting on). Even non-Yankee fans would be concerned about the next contract for their own teams' channels.

Just remember the the non-deal consequences for each side:

YES--loses all revenue from DirecTV contract.

DirecTV--loses all COSTS from YES contract, against long-term erosion of Yankee fans from subscriber base that can't go to Dish, only cable or FIOS.

DirecTV wins this battle, IMHO.

I didnt go that route!!I went to a Time Warner Center here in Manhattan and got a brand new HD (NON DVR) Samsung box..NEW In the Box and selefane wrap in it..I'd never take anything from the tech's truck!!...Does Cablevision have Store outlets like that??? I'd trade that sucker in if it looks beat up, check & see if they do if your not happy with what you got......you could trade up and get a brand spanking new stuff instead of something slipping & sliding and wedged inside the techs truck..We may be in the long run for this dispute..I'd rather be happy with what i got than seeing a shoe print :)

attached is a pic from Engadget.com and this is the NON DVR HD box Time Warner gives out in Manhattan..

If DIRECTV's facebook page is to be believed, they're done bickering:

Big news: We just reached an agreement with YES Network to continue carrying the Yankees games!

I just knew they would get it done. They love to point out that they have YES and Dish does not.

Good! I didn't want to suffer through NESN's announcers tomorrow.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.
