For those who are fans of his, William Shatner turned 80 today.

According to Wikipedia, "his official movie debut was in the 1951 Canadian film entitled The Butler's Night Off."

I'm sure he's having a happy birthday. Thank's to Star Trek he's "lived long and prospered".

Holy cow, you'd never know it from looking at him. Lotta makeup, airbrushing or just a generally healthy guy. Good for him.

I had to laugh at this tweet this morning...

Joy Behar
A happy 80th birthday to William Shatner. And a happy 14th birthday to William Shatner’s hair.

I must strongly disagree with the subject line. James T. Kirk will not be born until the year 2228, and he will therefore not have a birthday until 2229. And technically, "Captain Kirk" will not have a birthday until after James T. Kirk is promoted to the rank of captain.

Which James T. Kirk are you alluding to? With Star Trek there are alternate dimensions, alternate realities and a alternate universe. ;)

Hard to argue with that logic! That said, from the Star Trek episode "A Piece of the Action":

Spock: Logic and practical information do not seem to apply here.
McCoy: You admit that?
Spock: To deny the facts would be illogical, Doctor.

(I drove through Riverside last summer -- their association with "Star Trek" really seems to be all they've got going for them.)
