Time to wake the sleeping dogs.

To paraphrase Bluto -- "Over? What do you mean it's over? Nothing is over until we decide it is over. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

You need to end this situation through the FCC with their complaint system. If you don't, all current and future residents of your complex who want a DBS will be told (in your words), "we don't allow dishes; we have an exclusive contract for that" and if they ask about your dish, "he is grandfathered in."

So go forth Lord Vader and show them that it isn't over until LV says it is over.

May the Force be with you.

Honestly agitating for the sake of agitation is not really a good reason. Just gets people really mad which in the end makes things worse for everyone. No idea what the rent policies are at LV's complex, but who knows, the company could retaliate by raising EVERYONES rent a few bucks just out of spite. Or something like that.

My post was very specific as to why I think LV should file a Petetion with the FCC -- if he does nothing, all current and future tenants will be illegally denied something they are entitled to.

I don't know if the FCC will take action on an anonymous letter. Their petition process requires you send a copy to the party that you're filing against.

I am not concerned about the other 439 units and whether they can receive DirecTV or not. There is no need for me to stir the pot to be the hero for everyone else in the complex, unless my landlord demands I take my dish down. Until and unless that happens, I'll sit and wait.

FAITH: I find the lack of it disturbing.

Opinions are my own but should be those of all Americans, who would be much better off intellectually, psychologically, and emotionally if that were the case.

Billy, don't be a hero.....

I'm sure Directv can't wait to get their hands on your unit.

No they won't -- if they really want DirecTV all they have to do is put a dish on their patio/balcony like LV. Follow the same routine -- hand in the FCC/SBCA regulations and plug in the receiver. The Apartment complex can claim whatever they want to as long as they realize they can't enforce or penalize any resident. LV is certainly has no legal or moral obligations to fight other people's battle.

That certainly is your choice. I'm just glad you're not one of my neighbors.

If you don't mind my asking, what about LV's post would make him a bad neighbor?

I'll toss in a bit of support: the lord of Vader has staked a very suitable (in my mind) position of not starting trouble but standing up for his rights when it comes his way.

In doing so, he really is helping his neighbors who might want to get a dish in the future--without pissing them off right now.

This gives the Company a chance to do it right without getting too defensive right now.

Keep up the good work, LV.

Cheers,
Tom

Having worked in the MDU industry for years, I have but one question in mind. Is the dish grounded as per NEC? If not, then the case seems to have no merit as the installation is illegal as it does not comply with local, state or federal regulations covering such items. Not trying to stir the pot, just to add a bit of insight to the issue.
