One nice, added benefit of this non-pen mount: all those neatly arranged cinder blocks serving as the base makes for quite a convenient little table onto which I can set my drinks. :coffee :goodjob:

FAITH: I find the lack of it disturbing.

Opinions are my own but should be those of all Americans, who would be much better off intellectually, psychologically, and emotionally if that were the case.

. . .

The technician is here right now installing the non-pen mount. It's kinda funny that we're keeping it in the same corner of the balcony, so it will still be very noticeable to all those potential new residents. :D

Are you doing before and after pix?

I was hoping you could post photos that wouldn't reveal your supersecret location.

It's too late to do the before pics, as the dish is down.

Just so I can make the dish more noticeable--it IS slightly more hidden behind the balcony railing now--I'm going to get me something on which to rest (elevate a bit) the non-pen mount. I don't have to, of course; I'm just going to do it.

That's all good and well, but I'd ask why?

Sure, it may make it more apparent to tenants, but you'll have to re-peak your dish. Is it worth it?

Truthfully, it gives me more room on my balcony floor if I elevated it even 6".

This is kinda funny.

DirecTV technician stops by this morning but admits that the non-pen mount wasn't on the work order. So, I tell him that I'll be here all day (ah, summer break!) and can reschedule the installation; or he can come back another day. After all, I'm in no rush, and stringing this out with management IS kinda fun. :D

Anyway, he gets on the radio and calls his boss to let him know what's up. His boss tells him (and I can hear this through the radio), "No, we can't reschedule. This customer is a VIP, and this account is being handled with special treatment, so we can't reschedule. You're going to have to come back, Derrick, to get the non-pen and install it."

So Derrick leaves and politely says, "I'll be about 45 minutes to an hour or so, but I'll call you and let you know for sure."

VIP and he still forgot the non-pen mount  If he didn't bring the mount what did he plan to do ?

Great thread to follow , keep up the good fight Lord VIP Vader.

Hmm... Is this a fictional tale of sorts? Sorry to doubt you brotha. Sometimes a picture paints a thousand words. All kidding aside, if you can't post pics I guess that's okay.

I WISH this was a fictional story. It's all too true, unfortunately.

I didn't say I can't post pics; rather, I never thought of that at the time. I was more focused on this whole battle with my landlord. Since the dish isn't on the balcony post anymore, I obviously can't post pics of the "before," but I can post one of the "after".
