HR21 and H20 HDMI stopped working, plasma fine
Posted 26 June 2011 - 07:14 AM
Has there been some software/firmware loaded up over the last week or so that could have bungled up the HR21 and H20 HDMI's? I now see this new banner system on the guide/info, and it is not unlike Directv to "improved" our operating system and mess up something else...any ideas would be appreciated.

Oh, one other possibility. I discovered quite by accident that if the HDMI supply voltage (fed from a source device to power downstream devices like boosters) disappears, my Panny will not handshake. I've had problems with two D* receivers in this regard (flaky HDMI power), which I fixed by using a voltage inserter in the HDMI line. The inserter completely removes the source device power and puts its own 5 Volts on the HDMI line. It plugs into your receiver HDMI port, and then your HDMI cable plugs in its other side, and you plug its small power supply in the wall. They are available from Parts Express (Cables to go Voltage Inserter). You might try that as a last resort.

Did you try a different HDMI cable and input on the TV?
If you double check all of these and still have issues then it sounds like you need to call DirecTV and have your receivers replaced. If they try to tell you to just use component tell them your TVs are 3D, or don't have any open component inputs.
