I wonder if UT still gets paid?

I am sure there is a sunset clause and arbitration somewhere in the fineprint just in case.

Subscribed to DirecTV for NFL Sunday Ticket, remained a subscriber for international football.

I'm sure they are in negotiations with ESPN to carry the channel. Just not sure DirecTV wants to pay the more than 40 cents a subscriber ESPN is wanting.

As of right now En-touch in the Houston area is the only provider that has a carriage agreement in place.

Looks like FIOS is going to carry it on Channel 320 per a post from someone in the know on dslreports.com!

D* Setup:

Slimline (AU9-S) w/no multiswitch
(1) HR21-100 0x87F (7/8/08 Made in Mexico) via HDMI to Pioneer PDP-6020FD
(1) HR24-100 0x87F (11/9/10 Made in Thailand) via HDMI to Panasonic TC-P58S2

FIOS 150/150

320 is a national SD channel, I believe. Wonder what tier.

Most Texas fans I know have little to no interest in it outside any fball games that it may show

The idea that D* should pay anything even remotely expensive for this dud is laughable

The interest is minimal, the upside is little, and the chances of success are slim

I love UT, but I still don't really care about the channel.
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

If they carry it, make sure it's in SD. Please don't waste an HD spot for this.

I personally would be glad to have it in SD only, for now. I want the channel, but there are other channels that I want in HD more, like BBCA and AMC.

But the biggest distributors in Texas appear to be far from a deal, including the state’s biggest cable operator, Time Warner Cable, the state’s biggest satellite distributor, DirecTV, and the country’s biggest cable operator, Comcast.

Time Warner Cable appears to be the closest of those three, sources said.

Comcast and DirecTV are not close to deals yet, sources said.

Longhorn Network is seeking 40 cents a subscriber a month from distributors in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The holdup with Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable apparently deals with questions over what programming the channel can actually carry.

Sources said Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable will not agree to a deal with Longhorn Network until there’s clarity on exactly what rights the network has

That makes sense. Although they could have a contigency contract with different carriage agreements.

LHN should offer a "freeview" (or at least a "dirt cheapview" or "one day price view") to all systems for the Rice game.

Direct TV customers however may be out of luck. ESPN's contract with DTV ends this year and reports suggest ESPN has no interest in negotiating the Longhorn Network until then. Enjoy your NFL Season Ticket folks.

Well, DIRECTV and Disney/ESPN did recently negotiate for 24x7 on ESPN 3D so that might not be correct.

See post My Setup for configuration info.

I don't think it is correct. I thought SatRacer said a while back that those contracts were in place for a while.

Maybe, but Disney/ESPN and DIRECTV did negotiate adding ESPN 3D and a bunch of on demand channels very recently so why would they not want to negotiate now to add Longhorns network?

You have to love the ignorance in this forum regarding carriage contracts.

Verizon first national carrier of Longhorn Network

Verizon has announced it will carry the ESPN-backed network for its FiOS TV subscribers. The 24-hour channel dedicated to University of Texas sports launches Friday and will broadcast the Longhorns' first game against Rice on Sept. 3.
