Did Directv do away with Home Premiere in their CinemaPlus section? Just wondering b/c i just went to CinemaPlus and there isnt a tab/section for Home Premiere anymore. I read the other thread about how there was little demand for this service but nothing about if it was disontinued.

I would like to know if anyone here actually purchases a $30 title. Even if your filthy rich who would spend $30 for a movie? That's just outrageous.

Didn't order one and I think it was ridiculous to think most anyone would for a movie that's 60 days old. If it were within a couple of weeks I'd entertain the idea, otherwise no.

In saying that I think if they can get movies like Thor, Cars 2, and Harry Potter on the 60 day mark, those may sell better.

Nope, never did, never will. I’ll just pay less money for the higher A/V quality blu-ray copy and keep it forever.

I think this stupid idea is riding off quietly into the sunset hoping to be undetected.

$30 for a PPV? Really.

It might have caught some out by surprise :) My Girlfriend was going to order one of them thinking it was a normal PPV until I told her to look again at the price :D

I see it's back in the Cinema List. I'd use it if it had something good. Currently it is showing "the Greatest Movie Ever Sold"??

I'm wondering if any orders they have had for Home Premiere are simply people who thought it was a regular PPV and just didn't pay attention when it said $29.99.

I know plenty of multi-millionaires who would balk at $29.99 for a "home premiere" movie as currently set up.
My setup (TV + DirecTV):
Master Bedroom: LG 32" 120hz LCD TV, GENIE Client
Living room: Samsung 46" 120hz LED LCD TV 7000 series, GENIE Master
Dedicated HT: Epson 8700UB projector with 150" 16:9 painted on screen and 180" 2.4:1 painted on screen, HD-DVR (HR22), Denon AVR-890, Klipsch Icon Front Speakers, Center Speaker, and Klipsch Icon Floorstanders for side and rear speakers (6 total floorstanders), subwoofer is BIC America V-1220 12" down-firing sub

I did one a while back.

After clicking the rent button, it gave me a pretty heavy handed copy protection notice along with a warning that the recording is watermarked. It also required the use of HDMI (I tried component just to see what happens).

The PQ and sound was fine. It's about what you would expect from satellite. Not as good as Blu-Ray but still pretty darn good. Full 1080p and Dolby Digital.

They really should lower the price to $20. $30 is definitely too steep for most people (even for me but you know I had to try it).

Don't know if I will do this again at this price point but it was still fun seeing the movie weeks before the Blu-Ray release.

Well maybe if you were in Alaska and a plane ride from your nearest movie house, with a cabin fill of people you would, but that an extremely small customer base.

No. (Clarification, necessary or not: I'm answering just for myself.)

I looked at http://support.direc...etail/a_id/3209 and it says all I need is an hd-dvr hooked to an hdtv thru hdmi to get Home Premiere. My question is because the listings for Home Premiere are on channel 1100 does that mean I also need high-speed internet like other on-demand stuff in the 1000's or does it come down off the satellite like regular PPV channels in the 100'S range?

I believe all of the Home Premiere movies have been pushed to the reserved section of the HD-DVRs hard drives so far.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
