I Finally Saw IT!

Directv is running ads in this economy for qualified technicians.

How about..."If you have unpaid judgments and or installation records we will pay them with interest?

Then we will pay YOU to upgrade your skills to the current system.

How about...You will be given credit for past installations toward current experience evaluations?

Finally: We promise to stop what we were doing for the past twenty years and be responsible employers?

Hold yer breath!

If I held my breath on that one I would expect to pass out and perish. If they followed through with being a responsible employer I would most likely die from a heart attack or stroke.

We are having trouble hiring guys here.

Surprisingly, there is a fair amount of interest, even considering the wages (substandard imo). The deal breaker (before the background and drug test) is that they need to have a truck, van or SUV. The cheapa$$ company doesn't want to provide company vans, despite it looking 1000x more professional.

And yet they wonder why they can't fill a training class.

Since I saw the Directv ad....

I found a Craig's List ad for skilled technicians. There was a map of the MD, DE, VA & NJ region. They wanted the usual stuff & were willing to train. But the region the circled could kill you just in drive time.

It looked like a fulfillment deal...eq sent to cx + no meetings or office. AND the tech got to keep all the custom work.

Around here all the experienced Directv techs have now gotten deeper experience in courts & collection techniques. Work for a new pack of crooks? Probably not!

Love that Movie.

Pennywise is a great character.

I'm sure Directv can't wait to get their hands on your unit.

Sorry about the confusion. I had forgotten about the Stephen King movie.
Instead of saying IT...meaning a really silly ad I should have started the thread "I finally saw the most silly Directv ad ever!"

Of course, now that you bring IT up there is a certain parallel.
Who doesn't want a good job in a popular field near home? With that expectation many are drawn to respond to installer ads. They discover the manager is Pennywise. Their time & money have been destroyed. It is too late to run away.

There must be good experiences with installer jobs somewhere...right?

Thanks again,

Joe
