I think I see where you're going with that.... So that means you could watch the BEARS game on two different TV's in the same room with only one receiver ....That my friends, is some sweet lovin' by the fireplace!
pbg

That wouldn't take this option, you can just use another output and hook the tv up to the same receiver. This would be good for two different games, or a game on one, red zone channel on the others, etc.

Being a galaxy 10.1 tab owner im curious if they are releasing a tablet specific app as tablets were specifically mentioned in the article. I hope its just not the same app for phones as i would love a tab optimized app!

yes the four cell game window for afternoon games is for regular subscribers. The game ticker feed that provides live updates of games not in the mix at the bottom of the screen will not be available on the 4 cell as it is on the 8 cell screen, however.

my comments and opinions are my own and do not suggest endorsement by my employer

Wow, this is cool news for football fans. I wonder if this will make its way to Apple TV too??

I wonder if this will cause some fulltime DIRECTV subscribers to jump ship now that they'll have another ST option??

Some articles are using the terms, "for people that can't get DirecTV." So to clarify, this will be offered to anyone with a supported device, including ones that just don't want to switch?

We have MLB.tv on our Roku and enjoy it. The PQ isn't quite what you get on broadcast TV (okay, that's being generous) but it costs half as much as MLB Extra Innings. Would I pay the full NFL Sunday Ticket cost for this quality of video though? That's a tough sell...

Yeah, I can't imagine the quality would be as good. They still have to have something to say that the experience is better if you subscribe to DirecTV.

Is Sunday ticket to go live streaming only? Or can I come to a game in the middle and start watching from the beginning?

Especially with the movement of the game. Baseball movement is largely localized.

I wonder how many people will think they can control the games with their PS3? :)

Cheers,
Tom

I can't wait to see a demo video of how the interface and content will look like. What wasn't answered though is will the package be viewable on your pc as well. Is the package only available to roku and ps3 specific products or will there also be the option to view the game on your pc?

Id be curious to know if the PS3 will have game mix on it or be like the phone apps and one game at a time. Also I wonder if its just live or can you rewind action if you miss it?

Do the articles specifically say Roku is getting NFL ST? Maybe I missed it. There is no discussion of ST on Roku forums. Is the NFL getting a cut from these additional customers? Or is it just gravy for Direct?

My guess is only live streams and highlights. Don't know about mix channels. I haven't seen them in the past.

Its not a big deal but this just shows the general sloppiness of things:

The ST insignia on the left is from that article & they are still using the old NFL logo, starfield, football, curved letters.

The ST insignia on the right is the new one that should be used with the new NFL logo with the 8 stars (1 for each division), new football, block lettering.

Again not a big deal but just sloppy work.

Got the heads up.

NFL ST is not on the Roku lineup as reported in an article listed in this thread. Sorry for the misinformation we passed on.

Tom

I'm not sure I understand the pricing model. It appears they are charging their own subscribers $45 more than non-subscribers. That seems backwards.

It does require the addon pack for subscribers, but if you don't need the PS3/mobile support, you'll get better quality. Watching over the PS3 is a good option for setting up another TV without needing a receiver, but won't be the best experience.

And it isn't hard to get the addon package free anyway.

Does this mean it's not officially on ROKU right now or that it won't be on ROKU this year? BTW I have ROKUs at my second home (the one without D*) and I would much rather watch on them then on a laptop with an HDMI out or a Tablet with a micro HDMI to the TV ...

This means that Roku will not be streaming the NFL ST this upcoming season as things stand right now.

Who knows, there might be negotiations going on (I have no information) and someday Roku might negotiate to carry NFL ST. As of now, contrary to the article, they won't.

Cheers,
Tom

This is Freaking Awesome. My father gets Sunday Ticket every year so last year i had him sign up for To Go and I streamed games from my laptop to my TV. This will be great this year to have it directly on the TV with my PS3

MLB program on the PS3 quality is pretty damn good. Def. HD or close to it at times. I have never used the NHL one.

Even if the quality is eh, it is better then having nothing
