a big assumption here since there is a lack of information.. But sounds like you have a SWM Dish and the Power Inserter got unplugged? Make sure its plugged into power..

Nothing was unplugged. I was watching TV and then suddenly the "problem communicating with dish" message popped up. It came up when all of these people started having problems with NFL Sunday Ticket.

Nothing to do with the NFL Sunday Ticket issue. Can you give us more information about your equipment? Model number(s)? Dish type? Exact on-scree error message?

Sounds like a connection issue between your receiver and your satellite dish. Its not between the dish and satellite. You need to check all the coax connections, unplug and replug, check inserter.

When I had that issue a year or two back, I had a couple of bad cable connections between the Dish and the house. I'm on the service plan, so I got them out and they replaced the bad connectors and gave me a new LNB. No issues since. :)

I had this problem recently and the splitter had died. Luckily the Shack had them in stock.

Sounded odd then, but here we are and Dish is down (or at least one satellite.)
