Since Week #1 was a bit rocky, I couldn't help wondering what everyone's experience was this week with the ST package. Buggy? Beautiful?

(And, yes, I'm asking you all because I'm not yet a subscriber and so don't have the option myself. But I'll be fixing that "problem" in the next month.;))

The TV side seemed fine. The streaming was better than last week, but the PQ was doodoo (I've read).
If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

The broadcast version is great as expected and as usual. (Most of the glitches are typically the network, not DIRECTV and there aren't many of them.)

I've read that the ToGo performance was not as good. Seems like the servers/network had capacity issues from what I've read and watched.

Cheers,
Tom

ToGo was spotty. Excellent at times, especially on the later games. Heck of a lot better than last week.

Jags/Jets was on my local station. As a Jaguars fan I wanted to watch even as they were obliterated. The local CBS station switched halfway through the 4th qtr. I immediately called D* to try and get the blackout on ST lifted but to my surprise and satisfaction, it was lifted before I got through to anyone. So, I was happy about that.

Both my hd boxes reset about 3:20 eastern. I was recording Lions game and was watching it delayed from the list. It dumped what wad recored between where I was watching when it reset to current. Ended up missing the whole 3rd quarter.

Not a fan of either team but something told me to watch the Bills-Raiders game. What a roller coaster ride that was!

I couldn't get it to work on wi-fi either. Told me to switch to 3G network. Of course it didn't work on that either.

If I'm somewhere that I must be (and may or may not want to be) and want to watch a game, yes I'll pick whatever I can get.

I had a problem with 2go today. Last week I was in Las Vegas and watched a few games on my laptop. Today I was at home and using my laptop again but the D* servers thought that I was still in Vegas and blackedout the games that were on tv there. I restarted my computer and cleared my cookies but it still didnt work. When I called in the 2 people tried to help but couldn't fix it, just told me I was out of luck. Its not the end of the world but is really annoying. I got 2go for free, otherwise I would be more upset.

My expectation is that PCs are located via the IP address. If your ISP does not properly give your location, you could have a problem.

There are a couple ways you can check your IP and the location assigned to it. Google searches should tell you where it thinks you are.

Tom

I just did a google search and the results did show Green Bay as my location but I wonder if it might be my Mcafee Total Protection that is blocking it somehow. The second person that I talked to did say that my computer showed up as being located in Las Vegas as I figured was the problem from the start. Thanks for the quick reply.

Ah, that is another possibility. I wonder if the application does some checks for VPNs and communicates that information back to the servers.

Son switched to DTV 2 weeks ago, got the free NFL thing and reported that it worked great on his phone while at work today. Was with Dish for over 8 yrs and is one happy camper now that he switched.

I had major audio static during the end of the Bills-Raiders game viewing through "normal" means. I switched to another channel that was also showing that game and there was no static on the other channel.

To clarify what I was thinking in the back of my mind, the network issues can be anywhere between you and DIRECTV, especially your ISP or your neighborhood node.

Tom

Grandon-in-law has his first house and got DIRECTV. Even though he had it while living with us a number of years ago, it finally hit him "how sweet it is!" :)

Error message?

Sprint HTC Evo 3D.
It's amazing I can watch my Slingbox (which I know means I could watch NFLST that way on my phone) and my MLB.TV subscription without wifi, but not NFLST To Go.
And to answer the other question, sometimes I'm away from the TV and I'd to watch a few minutes of a game or the Red Zone Channel.
If DTV is going to use To Go in its commercials to sell NFLST, then shouldn't it work?

I do expect that you'll get better picture quality via wifi. So when it is available to me, I always use it.

To Go worked flawlessly on my itouch. This week it worked on my laptop as well. Last week it kept telling me I was already logged in on another device even when I was clearly logged out. Sunday it worked like it did last year. You didn't need to formally log out on any device, just close the window or app and stop using it. The only down side to the laptop To Go, as others have noted, was the picture quality which was really pretty bad - clearly inferior to last year.

Another wierd thing I noticed: locally broadcast games were blacked out on the itouch, but not on the laptop. Not sure why. Also, I really think the black out rule is inappropriate for To Go since it presupposes that you're not going anywhere but are right in front of your tv able to tune in the local broadcast. But since that actually describes my situation, it's no hassle for me personally.
