From Jerod Brooks on twitter Update on DIRECTV/Fox. Drop dead date has been extended from tomorrow morning to 2:59am et on 11-2-11. Negotiations are on going. to follow along go to twitter.com/givemethemic. Maybe this is good news.

Maybe they don't have enough staff for 3 AM Eastern time tomorrow morning for all the "WHY ARE MY CHANNELS GONE!" phone calls?

Had to reschedule? :D

Thats not why I found it interesting. It's the fact that they don't want any price increase that I found interesting.

True but the verb that they are doing is "suspending" so technically they are not lying.

Does anyone have a link to a news story to confirm this deadline extension that was mentioned earlier in the thread? The only source for this I saw was a twitter post.

The NFL SUNDAY TICKET IS THE MONOPOLY ! That is why I said basically the MLB also I know I can get the MLB online or on apple tv . It's just easier to have it all from one fair source without having to separate everything .

You need to go yell at the NFL with regards to the NFL Sunday Ticket. Thjey created it and they chose not to spread it around.
Remember when your kids were the TV set's remote control?

Look I have wasted enough time today on this . We are all screwed by big business every day and it looks like all we can do for now is to talk about it on forums like this .

Looks like someone should head to Zucotti Park STAT

It's not confirmation, but there is some support at a NY Times blog: http://mediadecoder....-and-news-corp/

There were indications on Monday afternoon that the two companies might be close to an agreement, or at least a short-term extension, but they declined to comment on the record.

I did this dance last year with Dish. I bailed and went to Directv. I'm still glad I did as I feel its a better service with better picture quality.

I'm not doing it again, and I really hate that they're trying to make this "my" problem.

No, it's not "my" problem. Fox, and whoever else...if you want me to watch your programming, make sure my carrier has it. Period. This is YOUR problem...not mine....nor my carrier.

If YOU can't make sure my carrier has your channels, I'll just watch something else. Sure, there's a couple shows and channels I'll miss....but, there's plenty of other stuff to watch.

I know others will not feel this way and present arguments for whose fault this is, who is right/wrong, who should do what....but it doesn't matter to me. I'm not switching carriers again. This crap will just keep happening, year after year. So, I'm leaving it to the content providers. You want me to watch your stuff, make sure DirecTV has it.

Nice post Joe. I do agree it's not my problem!

No mention of the extension in this latest multichannel article [link]

Both DirecTV and Fox said that negotiations continue, but that as of 4:49 p.m. ET no progress had been made.

A Fox spokesperson said they were still "hopeful for a positive resolution."

Actually, the link in your post was updated and there is an agreement.

DirecTV and News Corp. Avert Channel Blackout

By BRIAN STELTER

6:15 p.m. | Updated | Representatives for DirecTV and News Corporation said Monday evening that they had averted a looming blackout of regional sports networks, FX and other Fox-owned cable channels.

After warring in public for a week and a half, the two companies said they had come to a new contract agreement. “We both know the past ten days have been challenging, but we’re pleased that both sides could eventually come together to ensure our viewers continue to enjoy Fox programming,” the companies said in a joint statement.

Yeah! Just got the email about it, and looks like they also got agreements on the locals and fox news, so everyone should be happy. I just wonder if maybe they will add some additional services too, like on demand for fox, etc...

Thank you, DirecTV! As a hockey fan, this would have been really painful for me, and I appreciate not having to deal with it!
