Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I figured but I wanted to be sure.
I finally had my tv installed last night. I must say, absolutely beautiful tv and great picture.
I have contacted Direct tv and they will install my hr34 (I'm ordering one from VE) and install two dual tuner dvr's for $190 with whole house install included. They offered to credit my account $43 a month for 6 months to help offset my purchase of the hr34. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me.
I do have another question for y'all though. I has been using a $100 set of wireless headphones for late night tv viewing that we're plugged into the variable audio out on my old tv. The new tv, Panasonic 50GT30 only has a digital audio out. My old headphones aren't working with my new tv. Is there an easy way to make them work? If not then what type or specific model should I be looking for. I would like to keep the price around $100 or less if I need a new set.
So, what do y'all think?

You can get a small converter that takes digital audio out from the TV and converts it to analog out for your headphones. You didn't say if your tv has optical or coaxial digital out...that would determine, of course, which style adapter you buy. Monoprice.com has them for about $30.00 as I recall. Monoprice is a great place to order cables from, as well, so if you anticipate needing hdmi cables, buy them at the same time...they are under 5 bucks and work very well.

Thanks Hasan, it's digital audio out. I did order my hdmi cables and a bunch of 90 degree adapters from Monoprice. Great prices, thanks. I would prefer buying an audio adapter local if possible so my wife can use the headphones tonite, she stays up late. What should I ask for and is the adapter I can get from Best Buy or Radio Shack?
Again, I appreciate your help, all of you.

If I'm not mistaken, some tv's only output from the digital out when watching an OTA channel. There may be no output from the tv's Toslink when watching from a dvd player, DIRECTV receiver, etc...

Ota, one more acronym for the memory bank. I picked up a digital to anolog converter at Fry's along with a mini jack to Toslink cable. I'll try it out tonite.
I ordered my HR34 from VE today. :)
Thanks for the help.

I hooked up the d to a audio converter and the wireless headphones work great.
In my wireless headphone research today I contacted Sennhiezer. The tech department told me that they will be releasing a set of digital audio wireless headphones next year.

I canceled my VE hr34 order. I never got a confirmation email. Ordered it from USDIGITALHD with the external rf antenae. It'll be here Friday. Just out of curiosity, can I just unplug my old R10 and hook up the HR34. Then call Direct tv and activate it until I can get the swm install. If so I would guess that I would have to do something to the 34 to tell it what's going on for hookups. Am I correct, and if I am, could I get some basic idea of what I need to do please?
As always, thanks in advance.

Ok thanks, bummer though. So I have to wait until they come out to do the upgrade, correct?

Yes, without a SWM setup, it won't work.

Thanks for the info, I'll set the install and upgrade for Monday. At least I can stare at it over Christmas weekend.
